Has anyone heard of the new QB that LSU just picked up...Jordan Jefferson. The guy is suppose to be unreal. Any info would be great.:miles:
I'm hoping to go see him play this friday. Destrahan is playing Westgate here in New Iberia in the State Semi-Finals. I get double pleasure out of watching this game. Westgate(New Iberia) was 5-5 in regular season but snuck in as a 28 seed and managed to get hot in the playoffs, Destrahan is undefeated and the #1 seed. So I get to go pull for Westgate and hope they pull of the upset and I get to see our next great QB plus one of our future WRs Tim Molton (who is supposed to be more athletic).
Ok, I watched just the first half of the game tonight. It was really over after Destrahan scored 3 TDs with 3 offensive plays. Jordon Jefferson has got a pretty darn good arm. I saw him throw it 65 yards like it was nothing. But I tell you one thing, that whole team has a few people LSU should be looking at, that team was fast. They looked like a college team playing a Junior-Varsity High School team.
Jordan could be one of the top sleepers in the nation, a real diamond in the rough. I am glad LSU picked him up. Despite missing the first 6 games of his junior year due to an injury, by season's end he had completed 83 of 143 passes (58%) for 1,666 yards, 20 TDs and only 4 interceptions. This year he passed for over 1,900 yards and at least 18 TDs. Rivals ranks him as the 19th dual-threat QB in the nation. Personally, I think he is underrated. With a strong arm and the ability to scramble out of a bad situation, he has to be considered one of the top recruits in the South. But there are some things he needs to work on. His throwing mechanics need polishing. For example, his release is low and almost side-armed. Jefferson needs to develop a quick, over-the-top release. If he can accomplish this, his accuracy should improve. He does not square up his body or step into his throws. He would probably benefit from a red-shirt season in order to work these problems. He has the potential for being a very dangerous QB if he succeeds in improving on his mechanics. If not, with his size and athleticism, he could be a great tight end.
