The point that I gathered from it was that even though the books say so, we really arent and I can actually see that. The reasons why is where I probably have a different opinion.
We may not be equal in reality but legally we are. If a white cop shoots an innocent black man its just as illegal as if he had shot an innocent white man. In the past the cop probably got a promotion.
What happens if white people start calling statues of and streets named after MLK offensive? When does all this stop and what does it accomplish? At some point you have to accept that history is what it is and you can't rewrite it or erase it. You can however learn from it and improve everyone's future. I see all this recent debate and deletion of history as sidetracking the conversation and hurting the cause. It does more damage to race relations than healing.
