For a logo, you could go with just the team name and a basketball, same thing the Lakers, Knicks, Nets, Pistons, Clippers, Pacers, and Thunder do for their logos

How about the New Orleans Booze !!!

Just think...when they suck and everyone starts booing, the players will think everyone's cheering and start playing better.

I thought one of the finalist was the "Soul". That would have gone with the Saints theme. Could have kept the Fluer-de-lis with a basketball in the middle. Also could have stayed with the Black and Gold for colors. The Honey Bees would have looked nice in some black leather shorts ;):D:D

The Honey Bees look great in any shorts :) But so did the waitress who I was talking to and drunkenly told that she looked better than any of the Honey Bees I had just sat next to at the game.

    I love New Orleans

that's a pretty sweet logo. this article has a poll with 6,700 votes so far, asking "What do you think of the New Orleans Pelicans' logo?"
    73.2% -- Love it!
    12.0% -- Hate it!
    14.8% -- I have no opinion

the author is from New York, and is a fan of the NY Yankees, NY Rangers, NY Knicks, NY Jets, and the Chicago Bears, and this is his take on the new logo:

"I must say that it's borderline perfect. When it comes to any team's logo, regardless of sport, it needs four components to be great: unique lettering, solid colors, plenty of swagger and, of course, a great overall look. The Pelicans' new seal grades out well in each department
    ...
    Lettering: A
...This logo puts the class in classy the way "New Orleans" is written. The characters themselves bring back memories of an old-time movie and pack plenty of punch. ... I cannot wait to see what the team does in terms of new jerseys.

    Color: A+
...subbing out the gold, white and teal in favor of red, navy blue and gold was the best decision team management could have made apart from the name change itself....

    Swagger: B+
Any professional sports team's logo needs to have swagger, from the New York Yankees' interlocking NY to the classic angry bull in Chicago. The New Orleans Pelicans' logo may be new, but trust me, in the swagger department it's about to blow the roof off of New Orleans Arena. We already talked about the lettering and color, but look at the shape of the logo itself. The fleur-de-lis on top is a great starting point, but then the logo trickles down into this badass form that looks like something a pilot would wear. In all honesty, after taking a long hard look at it, I want to go and watch Top Gun maybe three times in a row. ... the logo's swaggability is excellent. I'd be proud to wear it as a player, a fan, or just in general.

Overall Look and Final Grade: A
There's no other way to say it: I love this logo. ...
