Ol Rex will never get it bc he fails to grasp what the civil war actually about. It was never about "keeping slaves." It was about states rights over the federal govt. by Rex's statements he also has to believe that the American revolution was a travesty as well since it was fought bc the colonist felt the British govt was tyrannical....just as the south felt the fed govt was becoming tyrannical. He is far to fixated on the one singular issue to realize all the nonsense he keeps regurgitating is just shooting himself in the foot. But I due hope this keeps on going he is funny. Kinda like the idiot cousin at the family reunion running around talking the ear off of anyone who will listen while never actually saying anything of substance. Keep it going rexy you are at least funny.
Gotta wonder if ol rexy realizes that at its peak only around 2% (according to the actual 1860 census not some revisionist historian who puts the number at 30-35% which is beyond ridiculous) give or take of southerners actually owned slaves. Yet all those southerners fought in the war just so those 2% could keep owning slaves which obviously meant less jobs for the 98% that didn't own a slave. Yep makes sense. It had nothing at all to do the ridiculously high tariffs the north was placing on southern goods, or the massive intrusion that was happening(and still is) of the fed govt intruding upon rights granted to the states by the constitution. Nope had nothing to do with any of that. Ha ol rex almost has to be an old poster or current one in disguise to try to fire the forum up. Slavery the cause of the civil war one of the bigger lies every told. But keep it up dern it is funny to read
Ha your funny. Keep it going. The articles of secession of each state clearly state the reason is the intrusion of the fed govt onto state rights. While slavery ONE of the issues listed....it is not THE issue. Again.....just to focused on a single issue when there were multiple other issues the south held in higher concern than the loss of slavery which affected only an extremely small number of slave owning people.
Lee's motivation for joining the Confederate army was not to preserve slavery. If Virginia had not been involved it's likely he would have fought for the North
Yes, it was. It was THE issue for which they seceded. It was THE one "state's right" that caused them to secede. And, yes, Robert E. Lee fought a war whose cause was the continuation of slavery. I find it hilarious that he's being defended here as deserving the memorial because he fought for his home state.... That's like saying nobody from the mafia should ever be convicted because they only did it for family reasons. I'm correct. You're not. I'm almost always correct and make better sense and arguments than you can. Get used to it.
Hahaha even when you've been thoroughly beaten you keep on with the same lie. I love it you are funny.
No you aren't. You're wrong as fuck and you look foolish and like a pitulent child every time you post something else in this thread and again, this is coming from me, someone who shares a lot of liberal and progressive values. No one is arguing the war had a lot to do with slaves. But to deny the fact that a lot of people fought for the South because of northern invasion and aggression and State vs a tyrannical government (Lee and Jackson included) is pretty god damn ignorant.
