Yeah, may be confusing putting that in this thread, but I was lazy and didn't wanna find another more appropriate. He did have another year he could have played, but decided he could be a pro. Hell of a Tiger, just not sure if he gets drafted. Anyone think so?
Most underutilized player in a while. He's a Fullback. Did we use him as a FB? No. Worst Rushing in LSU history & we got a 245 pound FB shagging 4 total passes. That was his Senior season. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/23/p3
Yep Among the missing Gators were multiple starters. Their top three wide receivers -- Kadarius Toney, Trevon Grimes and Jacob Copeland -- were all out, and so was star tight end Kyle Pitts. Grimes, Pitts and Toney opted out of the game as they prepare for the NFL draft, and Copeland was out because he tested positive for COVID-19. The Gators were also without four defensive starters
The team team had the numbers (or lack thereof) to opt out but played anyway. https://www.espn.com/college-footba...ators-opted-not-play-cotton-bowl?platform=amp
College football is getting slowly phased out. If the schools won’t pay, this is the next logical step to take for an athlete. Only way to keep the level of play at the highest, the NFL has to help out and not let it be so easy. Then you get into a whole nother ball of shit. This could get ugly.
Agree. This all, however, is a direct result of the playoff system. Team doesn't make the playoffs, take a bow, get your bowl swag, and pop smoke. It's silly really, but this can be carbon-dated back to the idea of issuing a participation trophy. Did a little of digging and this is what I found on the creation of the participation trophy: In 1924, the University of Minnesota debuted a “30-inch sterling participation trophy” for “the campus organization having the highest number of participation points.” The idea was to encourage students to do sports—participation as something to be rewarded, because it's good to exercise, to compete, to try hard, win Some Big 10 pussy bullshit right there...
Totally agree with CFP being the culprit here and would add that this culture started with the BCS, but the BCS was a better system than the CFP for two reasons: much less reliance on the BS human element, and a sense that ever regular season game mattered. And how are the powers that be going to address this? Expand the playoffs. Slowly turning this into the NCAA tournament. This will make the regular season less interesting and will render all games outside of the playoffs even less “rewarding” than they already are. Travesty.
I hear you, but with recruiting and weak ass strategically designed schedules, you will get Clemson, Bama, Ohio State and 1 other every single year. Those 3 can lose a game during the season and still make the CFP. They can not play in their conference championship game and still make the CFP. The damage is already done.
