When I open the video, there’s an option at the bottom right that says “watch in high quality.” That means I am currently watching in standard mode. If I click on “watch in high quality”, the option at the bottom right changes to “watch in standard quality.” With all the plugins I have then mine may open differently, but if the option is there to switch to high quality I'm pretty sure that means I am currently watching in standard quality. On some videos the difference is dramatic, I guess it depends on how the source was encoded. If you right click the video you can change the quality setting. I set mine to HQ once and every video from now on plays in HQ.
It looks to be more involved than I thought, and fmt=6 may give the best results. I guess it depends on how you uploaded the video, but converted .wmv videos I uploaded haven’t worked with fmt=6, so I stuck with fmt=18. Either way, this is far different from simply changing the flash animation defaults. This link explains the details – LINK It goes on to explain that you can change your defaults in youtube to always play in high quality. That song in that ALI video is the requiem for a dream song But the one played at the national championship celebration is not that same one. It was close, but a lsu Pre-game remix. I have a copy of it on my computer. I recorded a piece of it from the video of that ship celebration and looped it. I will find somewhere to upload a song and post it in here to see the difference
