To answer your question: I do like players with "character", but let's face it, we watch LSU football for the talented players that bring excitement into our lives on Saturdays. What I was saying was that (to me) Mathieu getting #7 is more exciting than whoever gets 18 since I like PP7 and now TM7. I think Richard Murphy is great young man and has been though a ton in his life losing both his parents to cancer and his battling through injuries..... but like I mentioned in a previous post, Murphy is a nonfactor and his time at LSU is up. Like my unanswered question mentioned, I honestly don't think that 18 is truly awarded to the player on the team with the most character and that is why I don't get as excited as some people do about it.
I don't think 18 is given based on 'most character' as compared to senior, team leader. It's really hard to judge who has the most character on the team. #7 could end up being the new thing and I hope we have many more stud DB's that come in and take the number.
I agree with you that passing #7 to stud DB's would be awesome. The 18 jersey is based on character and its not just for seniors. Before Murphy had #18 in 2010, Richard Dickson had it in 2008 & 2009. Before Dickson, Hester had it in 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007. Here is an article about the #18: LSU tailback Richard Murphy will wear coveted No. 18 in 2010 | NOLA.com
Wasn't Dalton Hilliard #21 at both LSU and the Saints? What number did Kenny Hilliard wear in HS? Who is currently wearing #21 at LSU?
This is too cool... the first thing opposing QBs have done in the past and will continue to do is find #7.
Yes Dalton was #21. Kenny Hilliard wore #4 in high school. Currently LSU has two people with #21 on the 2011 roster (WR Chris Tolliver & DB Tayler Debusk).
