And it's idiotic, myopic thinking like that that has put LSU (and honestly, the whole state of Louisiana) in the hole it is currently having to dig out from, prestige wise. The only way to improve the school's prestige is to get more money to improve facilities, faculty, and quality of student base. Only way to do that is to increase worldwide exposure. Sure, this jersey isn't going to do that by itself, but every little step is a piece to a long journey.
This could be connected to the recent lawsuit argued in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. It was a case involving an apparel manufacturer that made T-shirts that incorporated the colors but not the names or logos of major college football programs. The ruling declared that the use of "color schemes along with other indicia" that have come to be strongly associated with a university can be enough to trigger a finding of trademark violation when they create "a probability of confusion". It's easier to prove "a probability of confusion" by using "indicia" in addition to color schemes.
Whats this long journey u speak of? Explain this long drawn out plan. Maybe if i and many other LSU fans that have distaste for the jersey change might have a change of heart. LSU has many...many ways of marketing that could give them more exposure, putting LSU in a 2 and 1/8 inch geaux font on the front jersey or making any other uniform changes wont do it, sorry.
Sorry but like a stated in previous post the reason for LSU doing this is b/c of the new tv contract. With the name on the jersey they said it will give more exposure, like i said again this is a bull excuse, LSU is plastered all over the espn or cbs when they play. If this is LSU's idea of making big bucks then were screwed. As for the flagship agenda thats about done for its was a 7 year thing and all or most the money from that push will now go to help the university b/c of all cut backs. This uniform excuse thing is not part of the agenda. Bottom line changing lsu's uniforms wont do one darn thing.
you have to market new products to make money. its pretty simple. im sure nike was really interested in bamas history when they had those houndstooth jerseys a couple of years ago. or perhaps they just sold a new product.
I'm probably going to have my citizenship in the :tigerhead nation revoked for saying this, but if you're talking about the AMAB jerseys that had the houndstooth around the collar, I really liked those. In fact, I really like jerseys like Penn State and <gulp> USCw that don't have a school logo on them. Wow, I feel kind of dirty. I'd better go sing 10 "Hey Fightin' Tigers" and 5 "Alma Maters" for my penance. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
It's okay to apreciate other jerseys in my book, as long as lsu stays #1 in your heart. Before they went all "Must Protect This House" retarded, I thought USCe had a great jersey. but after just one year of captain "Click-Clack"
and i don't really care about the "LSU" on the front. it's fine with me. but the problem is that if they change one thing, they'll eventually change another, then another. 10 years from now, i doubt that LSU will have the same uniforms, it's a matter of time. it's pathetic, but i'd be willing to bet inane amounts of cash on that.
