New England Patriots are, by far, the best in NFL right now

same way the saints did. But, on an ironic note cleveland beat us 6 game win streak. cleveland beat New England 5 game win streak. Looks like cleveland, started both of us on the right path.

Not only are the Patriots the best team right now, but watching Brady we may be seeing the best QB ever. He is the calmest SOB in the pocket I can ever remember. Nothing rattles his azz and he just keeps getting better, no matter what is stacked against him.

He has, thus far, had an unbelievable career, comparable to Montana's, but without the talent around him that Montana had. Brady doesn't have a Jerry Rice to throw to. He has made Wes the star he is. On any other team Wes would probably be just a back up. If he manages to win another SB, and/or gets voted MVP he will have as many as Montana during a time when the NFL is a much harder and faster game.

Not saying he is the best ever, but the argument could be made and probably will be.

Would Tom Brady thrive without Belechick?

    That's a good question.

I think that Tom Brady would be a good QB without Belechick, but not the superstar that he is today.

Belechick has a knack for getting other teams' scraps (Welker, Woodhead, etc) and somehow turning them into stars. There is a certain type of player that he looks for...and it all starts with Brady.

Brady and Belechick are alot alike. They say very little to the media and both keep their cards close to their vest. They go out there with a bunch of no-name leftovers from other teams and play football. It's crazy. I don't know how Belechick does it.

When they lost Moss, I was like, "Oh damn." They had NOBODY. They picked up the defunct Deion Branch and Brady starts slingin the onion and runnin' up the score on 9-2 teams in blizzards. I have never seen someone do more with less and do so on a consistent basis.

So, to answer your question, I don't think that Brady would be where he is today without Belechick....but I do think that Belechick would be where he is without Brady because of his knack for developing players.

Do we know that Brady wasn't the Wes Welker of QB's before Belechick developed him? He rode the pine in college and was a compensatory pick in the 6th round (#199 overall). He certainly wasn't a stud right out of the gates. I think all of this is a testament to Bill Belechick and how awesome he is.

CS, I completely agree with you, and think that Sean Payton has tried to follow this same philosophy to build the Saints. When you look at the Saints roster the majority is made up of rejects and no name, take a risk, draft picks. Much like Bill B. he has chosen to pick up free agents or pick draft picks that fill needs, have tons of potential, are very teachable, high character, and dedicated to team concept.

I think that the Saints are very much like the Patriots in that respect. A team made up of nobodies and rejects. Players that want to make a name for themselves and work hard because no one else believed in them. Like the Patriots the Saints have just a couple of big named players, but the rest have made their names being a Saint. Now I wouldn’t say that SP is the genius that BB is, but I do think he is trying to model that same success, and thus far it has worked out pretty good.

Not so sure he is the best qb ever. And there is a reason he is the calmest qb. Def. players are scared to touch him. They hit him and they are getting penalties and fines. He is the most protected player in the nfl.

Steeler team can best them. After that only Atlanta stands in their way.

Every great quarterback in history had a great coach or great offensive coordinator. You can't have one without the other.

Having said that, I just don't buy the Peyton Manning hype. Dude chokes on every big stage he's been on. Brady is the polar opposite in that regard. And I'm glad Drew Brees has become more like Brady in that regard too.

Hopefully my Packers can take care of business this weekend. This could well be a good trap game. I know Rodger's has a concussion and healing, but it will be a game time decision. If not, we will see what Matt Flynn can do. Mccoy beat the Patsies so can the Flynn. On that note.........GEAUX PACK GEAUX!!!!!!!
