While I agree, he can call more screens (which worked when they ran them) and more draws to lure the defense in. You have to use the Giants pressure to hurt them. If the Cowboys could get Barber almost 200 yds against them, then the Pats could have whipped up something. I have a hard time blaming the O-Line every time someone loses to the Giants.
Yeah but you're looking at it from only that angle. When a team is constantly sending 6 and 7 men up the gut, that opens up for some huge gains on screen , delayed handoffs, slant routes, etc., of which the Pats never called throughout the game. You adjust to what the defense is doing. The OC decided he would keep scripting the same plays, even in the face of a heavy rush of which the O-line could not possibly contain. The OC lost this game.
I am mainly speaking of how you blame the Patriots. How about giving the Giants some love. Half of the pressure they brought was with a four man front. No coordinator can defend that. Now, I was surprised they didnt run more screens.
I give a lot of credit to the Giants. They controlled the line of scrimmage, and actually on both sides of the ball. And they had to, cuz the other team had the better skill position players.
Those 4 lineman should have been the MVP's. They did something no one else had done all year (including themselves) which was dominate the OL of the Pats. The Pats have enough of a running game. I mean they did go 18-1 with what they have.
