My dad has done everything he can to help prevent me from making the same mistakes he did.

I don't care if Eli had gone 0-Career at Ole Miss. I disllike them and their alumni. I have a difficult time rooting for Ole Miss guys, regardless of where they were born or who their dad is.

I lookt at it the same way as the Bama issue. I took down the poster of the '03 team with coach and crystal football from my sons room. Why? I will not have a poster of the Alabama coach displayed in my house. Regardless of who he/she/it is. Am I happy for what he did for Louisiana? Of course. Do I hope he is an utter failure in everything he does at Bama? Yep. But that's no different than I felt about Shula, or Fran, or Dubose, or Stallings, etc.

What about Deuce McAllister? I'm not a big Saints fan, but I'm still glad he is at RB. He has already set the Saints career record for rushing yards.

As for Archie Manning, he was QB for the Saints from 1971 to 1982. He set the Saints career record for passing yards.

After his pro career was over, Archie could have gone back to Mississippi, but he stayed in Louisiana, raised his kids here, and is still a minor celebrity here as a radio and tv commentator and as a commercial spokesman for local products.

Instead of choosing to make his home in Louisiana, Archie could have gone back to north Mississippi, where he was born, where he was a two-time Heisman finalist at Ole Miss, where he met his wife (an Ole Miss Homecoming Queen), and where Ole Miss has their campus speed limit set at 18 mph in honor of his jersey number.

Overall, I think it's pretty cool that an ex-Saints QB raised two sons in Louisiana who both became Pro QBs and appeared in back to back Superbowls.

I'm not a big NFL fan at all. I just flip through all of the games on Sunday and choose whichever looks most interesting to watch. So no I'm not a fan of Deuce McAllister either. Sorry, but I'm a college football fan 1st and foremost, and I do not root for my rivals.

i hate to break it to you but he stayed because that's where his checks were being issued not because of his love for LA.

the state wasnt good enough for his beloved spawn but it certainly was good enough to take whatever he could get. he's given back so much I can hardly remember it all.

    a true philanthropist.
