What LSU needs is a solid "teacher of fundamentals". We don't need any help with recruiting although that is always a plus.
I have usually been impressed with the play of Auburn's LB's. If Willis becomes our LB coach I would be pleased.
LSU definitely needs to start from scratch with LBs. Because they have no fundamentals at all. Horrible tacklers and some of the worse angles in pursuit.
:geaux: I still think Chavis would do a good job for LSU as DC. I'd like to see how adding him and Willis at LB would pan out. Would be a great improvement in all respects. Adding the "Big O" at DL would top it off, but I ain't holding my breath on him. Would love to see all three at LSU though. Chavis, Willis, Orgeron. Wouldn't be bad at all, IMO. :LSU231:
Speculation on who's going to be hired to coach the D is a fun game, but doesn't it seem better to hire a new DC first and get his input on who his assistants should be. I'm not saying that the DC should be given free reign- especially since coach Miles reputation is on the line- but what if coaching philosophies or personalities don't mesh? We tend to attribute teamwork to the players, but it really has to be true of the staff as well.
what i was saying was that if o believes he might not have a job with the saints much longer because of possible changes that would effect his job, a lower paying college job in the state you want to call home would be a lot better than no pay. dl coach > unemployed. i dont know if thats the case, just speculating that would be a valid reason.
Well Sonny did confirm the rumor about Willis as LB coach has legs. He also said LSU has indeed been in contact with Walker. Coach O, no telling at this point, but rumors are flying around that he has been offered close to a half million to go to Tennessee. So FWIW.
