That same scheme almost blew our NC chances last year. Woodson was a statue in the pocket, yet the pass rush vs. Kentucky was nonexistent last year. Run blitzing vs. Arkansas would have at least limited McFadden and would have pressured Casey Dick on a 4th-and-10 that should have won that game.

For the record I have never liked that rush 4/drop 7 scheme, and unless you have lights-out DBs and D-linemen, that has not and will not work against teams than run the spread with great athletes. You don't win by sitting back and letting a Tebow kill you with a thousand cuts, you have to flush him out of the pocket, and if you get burned, you get burned. But I'd rather take a chance at a low-percentage long ball then get consistently beat with 5-10 yard high-percentage short passes, especially when CBs are always giving up a 5-yard cushion as they've been doing all year.

I couldn't agree more. I also just read this to my former football coach dad who's visiting for Thanksgiving, and he thought it was right-on, as well.

You wrote something earlier that was spot on about penalties. No problem with penalties, mostly, from an aggressive defense. And to be fair, there have been quite a few penalties called against LSU that were very suspect.
