Rivals says he does (and I think he said it himself in an article), but Sonny said he didn't. I'll take Sonny's word for it.
So, we have five new tiger commits & almost had 7 on the first big recruiting weekend?? WOW!! Thats impressive :geaux: Who will be next? & some of our offers are not real offers??? If I didn't know better I would think I was confused... No wonder we can offer 100 scholarships, some of them are counterfeit. Well not really but they can't be accepted...
Well, technically we did have 7 - only 5 were accepted. And we almost had several others. WOW!! Barkevious Mingo. Not every offer is committable.
The more I hear this the last couple of years the more stupid it sounds. If you have a non committable offer you have no offer at all. Why not just tell a kid we are looking very hard at you and we may indeed offer a scholarship but not just yet. It sounds like it is very confusing for some kids and their parents leaving hard feelings at times. Either make an offer or not but don't lead a kid into believing he has an offer when he does not. Non committable offers is something that needs to disappear from the recruiting scene IMO.
I think we'll get one, maybe 2, within the next couple of weeks. It will probably be a while before there's another big wave.
In years past, our first commit came in June. I used to worry about Tx. getting all the good kids, cause Brown started getting commits in April. Now we're both doing it in FEB.! Yea, some kids need to go home and think over an offer before they commit, which is totally understandable. So two weeks after Jr. Day makes sense, then we'll be done for a while. My guess based on history, next wave in June.
a friend and i were looking at a La. recruits list at the bash (i think it was dandy's) and this was by far our favorite name. after about 13 beers i was mentally willing this kid to come here so i could say in my best aussie accent "maybe the mingo ate your baby!!"
