    Rantavious Wooten

5'10" 158 lb WR out of Florida

Came real close to committing after camp these past few days.

LSU and Georgia are his top 2 with a lean to LSU.

Not sure if he is a take.

I think we need Rantavious and Barkevious on the same team, don't you think?

LSU may have to take 4 wideouts this year.

He has great moves and control of his body as you can see the way he cuts but I have to admit I'm high on DeBose and hope the Seminole trio signs with LSU also eventhough Wooten would probably be the safe pick plus him and Mingo's first names are meant to be on the same team like islstl said.

I just have a hard time believing that if Bell and Randle come on board as expected that we end up with only 3.

Debose, Wooten, Appleton are 3 that are hot for LSU. Do we only take one of the these 3?

Question : If Bell wasn't from Louisiana and Appleton "grade issues" are settled would we take on a 1st come basis because we basically would've had Appleton and Wooten already and RR when ever he got ready.

I think there is a state law that says we can't take one without the other.
And don't forget about Ray Ray! We need him to complete the deadly trio.

    Re: Rantavious Wooten

My take on the Wooten thing is that him and Bell are both slot WRs and the only way I see us taking Wooten is if we do not expect to land Debose or Appleton down the road. I can see him being the a Trindon type who specializes on ST and come in every few plays.

I think we take 3 though. I heard rumblings that Benton might enroll in January after doing some extra work at Bastrop but just to be safe add one more. Preferably Appleton with his size to replace Benton's void.

Think Debose is going to be too hard to pull along with Marlon Brown.

Wooten, IMO, is too similar to Bell & is a back-up plan to him. I don't think he has a committable offer.

Then again, I'm not really sure what type of WR we're looking for with that third spot...

He seems very small at 5-10, 162. Since that is not a confirmed height I wonder if he is even that tall. His 40 time, 4.50 is not legit either so we don't really know how fast he is unless someone has a time from a recent camp. Has anyone seen any film on him?

    Re: Rantavious Wooten

I just found some footage of Wooten on YouTube and it was impressive. He is a skinny athlete who does it all on his team. Plays QB and WR. He is a fast little guy who has a burst when he hits a crease, and doesn't waste time juking. He is too slim to break any tackles. What was impressive is that he seems to have good hands. He catches the ball with his hands and adjusted to the ball well. On one play he turned completely around and still made a nice catch. He is a very good runner in open space as far as receivers go and cuts well. He would be very comfortable on reverses. I don't think he could block though. He is just too light in the pants. Rich Rodriguez would love this guy for his spread offense. As others have said, it depends on what type of WR we are looking for.

I'm tellin' ya. It's all about the name. How can LSU NOT put Barkevious and Rantavious on the same roster? Think of the pointless but fun press coverage for years to come. Can you see the split screen player bios now? Sure ya can.
