Ryan St. Julien I'm watching Catholic High of NI play Kaplan. Ryan just ran a 62 yard touchdown. Speed and moves. After he cleared the line of scrimage it was all over. They are lining him up at RB. I know he has been playing some QB. Projected as a CB, nice size 6' 1" & 175#. The guys calling the game said he reminds some of LaRon Landry but pointed out how it might be difficult to keep him on defense with his combo of speed, moves and size. He had 82 yards rushing in the first quarter. EDIT: 42 - 33, Catholic High winning @ half time. Needless to say, its not a defensive struggle. St. Julien has 200+ yards rushing in the half.
I get to see St. Julian play on a regular basis. It surprises me that he is listed/projected as a CB recruit b/c most of his accomplishments have been on the offensive side of the ball. I have never been overly impressed w/ his cover skills, or even his hitting ability. He is deffinitely an offensive weapon. He has speed, and knows how to utilize blocking in front of him. He also appears to have great "vision" when running the ball. More importantly for LSU, he is very good at fielding punts, and making something out of nothing on returns (probably the only thing that LSU might be lacking this year). Just my 2 cents.
My outlook on recruits like St. Julian that are ATH is that the main thing is to just get them on campus and let them try their hand and the various positions and THEN see where they can best help the team. Obviously, St. Julian is an above average recruit with potential. If he wasn't, then these recruiting sites wouldn't have listed him at 3-stars, etc.
