Like a uniform change is going to affect that sorry state of affairs. They should try wearing clown suits, maybe they'd actually make some buckets while the other team is laughing. Not to turn this into a basketball lament thread.
The black leather jacket was a marketing thing from Nike. People like black leather jackets and Nike wants to sell a bunch of them. Les Miles receives several hundred thousand dollars from Nike every year which is why there is a swoosh on his cap, shirt, and trousers. It wasn't cold in the dome. Les put on the Nike 2007 Championship LSU Leather Jacket so we could all see it on TV. It was available for $200 in the LSU Union the next day. Nike pays LSU a ton of money explicitly so that it can be in this high-visibility position at the National Championship game.
Nike makes some sharp-looking stuff. I know that I'm in the minority with actually liking the Katrina jersies, but I hope Nike didn't make a penny off of those. A $1 donation is a slap in the face...
Well I really like the grey Nike locker room hat with the LSU logo in the middle. Of course I told my wife I wanted 2 hats. I wanted the grey one and I want a traditional P&G one. :crystal: :crystal:
I like it but I always buy black hats (the baseball team has been wearing a black hat in their rotation for years now) anytime an LSU product is available in black I buy it in black... it probably has something to do with the fact that I'm a big guy and if I wear a purple lsu hoodie I look like barney
I don't like the black gear, personally. I think it all looks slick enough, so it's not that it really looks bad. I just have to agree with the sentiment that it's just not LSU. And $200 bucks for that jacket??
Doesn't Nike have to get permission from LSU for the design use of our logo's on the jacket? And of course we don't have to wear it if we don't want to.
Nike has a deal with LSU already, and Les usually wears a jacket. They handed it to him, it says National Champions on it, he wears it...no big deal. Championship stuff was made for both teams before the game...all by Nike.
