    Hell, YES!

    Here's the link to Rivals...

    http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=997659

He actually told the staff yesterday... surprised the word wasn't leaked.

I can sleep a little better tonight and look forward to Tiger hoops... this year and next.

Here's the call.... Andre Stringer brings the ball down... crossover to the right. Drops it downlow to Courtney who passes it to Derenbecker cutting to the hoop who throws it out to a wide open Ralston Turner. SWISH for THREE!

:geauxtige:bball::geauxtige Good job Trent. Now, get back to coachin' up yo' players.

Excellent recruiting class and add to that Malcom White and 2010 is looking good.

More quotes and follow up with Andre Stringer...

2theadvocate.com | Sports | Miss. point guard Stringer commits to LSU — Baton Rouge, LA

The quotes about head man Trent Johnson are telling. Kids really do notice a difference, and it does speak volumes about what are drawing certain kids to make their choices.

What's clear to me is that while kids know that if they come to LSU that have to play within the system and be responsible, they know they will improve, get better, and get a chance to play a high level of ball. It's a little bit of an "old school" philosophy but a good one. Let's see if we can keep this recruiting momentum going into 2011 with a surprise signing to go along with John Isaac (unless Trent pulls a rabbit out of the hat in the spring)... :yelwink2:

:geauxtige:bball::geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. IN TRENT WE TRUST.

so is he a real 5'9" or is he really really short, say 5'7"? wondering since they usually seem to add 2 inches.

In everything I've seen, he's been listed at 5'9" or 5'10". I don't think he's as short as 5'7", but he's probably in truth somewhere around 5'8"-5'9". I am curious as to whether Andre would add an inch or two in college, b/c clearly if he did, it would help him. But, from what I've seen more and more sub 6' PGs are dotting the college landscape.

The interesting thing IMO is not his height but his weight. When you compared him to Phil Pressey (the other PG Trent was targeting) for example, Phil was perhaps a little taller, quicker but alot lighter. Andre is a solid 165-170 lbs and is a stockier guard, which helps him a little bit more from a strength perspective. He's been compared to Nic Wise of Arizona, another shorter but "bowling ball" type PG. Ironically, Andre is similar somewhat to one-time LSU commitment, Tommy Mason Griffin (who was a 5'11" bowling ball PG, with a good shot--signed with Oklahoma). Perhaps Trent likens him to the diminutive PGs of the West (Washington particularly), like Nate Robinson or Isaiah Thomas, who both play at sub 5'9" levels at around 180lb (Andre's a better shooter, perhaps not as athletic). If Andre can grow a little taller, he doesn't need to necessarily gain weight to survive the rigors of SEC ball.

But the thing that really stands out about Andre is his shooting. Alot of times these kinds of PGs are really quick and their job is pushing the tempo and breaking down defenses--but they don't always have the knock down jumper. If you look at Andre's junior high school stats, its pretty amazing what his FG% was... he was a 55+% FG shooter, and a 53% 3-pt FG shooter. When you take as many three pointers as he did too, it tells you he can really shoot. His shot will allow him a lot of opportunities to penetrate and dish as opposed to Releford ('Bama PG signee) who you can play off of and just make sure he doesn't get past you. So, it'll be real interesting watching the two of them match up in future years (Releford rated higher by ESPN as a ballhandler/passer, and Stringer rated higher by Rivals for his offense). In fact, it won't be unheard of to see Matt D or Ralston T bring the ball up as a "point forward" to have Stringer playing the pick and pop game as the shooter. Fun times ahead for folks that like shooting. :)
