New Basketball Coach - What things can he do.....?

not long after he got to lsu, didnt coach miles go to a couple of the dorms (unannounced) and have impromptu "ask the coach" type sessions where he had a couple of his children with him? it seems like i remember something about singing the fight song and the little girl already doing a great roar in the "make mike the tiger stand right up and roar" line.

that kind of interaction with the student community seems important to me to get them back to the pmac. along with winning, of course.

 

he did.

he stood out on campus a few times and hung out with students, too.

 

probably proven in my mind but undeservingly. personally I think he's about the best LSU could get because of where hes from and his ties. I could be wrong...maybe tubby smith is dying to get back in the SEC but surely dont see it. I guess it couldnt hurt to ask.


Id still likely rather floyd since LSU needs a more higher energy coach to get the fanbase going. Tubby is about as emotionless as it gets. they are likely about the same age but tubby seems like he's 20 yrs older.

I think you need cheap tickets and special packages to get the ball rolling. It would be nice to see a family pack of 4 with drinks, nachos or popcorn for 40 bucks.

 

Bruce Pearl has an exciting approach to playing an uptempo game, offensively and defensively, and that is something Brady has not done. Maybe that's just not his style. This firing was not about losing games, but about the program as a whole.

Some things that could be done...
1. Play an exciting uptempo style.
2. Think outside the box, be unconventional in terms of marketing, promotions, etc.
3. Make Midnight Madness a big night to kickoff the season.
4. Brady has never really made a true attempt to reach out to HS coaches around the BR area as a whole, I doubt around the state is any better. That may not improve attendance but turning coaches off your program does. Maybe if Brady would not drop F-bombs at coaching clinics while dads brought their sons might help as well.

 

coaching at Kentucky will do that

 

1) Actually advertise and promote his youth basketball camps
2) Have his face put on billboards
3) Be a guest on local talk radio
4) Shameless promotions and giveaways
