I wasn't allowed to leave home back then so you are correct!
Yes but the world was a better place.
Terrorism hadn't spread, the enemies were Iran and the Soviets.
The Nanny state was nowhere to be found like today!
The government wasn't infringing on our rights like today!
Give Obama some time this will change!

i can remember sitting in the car with my dad and listening to his grumbling. i will also never forget his statement "if gasoline hits $1 a gallon, i am just gonna quit driving". i need to remind him of that. lol

terrorism hadnt spread, but we were still in the cold war.

a lot of rights for women were still being fought for.

    rampant inflation across the board.

i dont remember a lot of things, but i am sure i could dig up a lot of things. point being, i am pissed off about a lot of things i see the obama administration doing. and we may be paying for years and may have to right a lot of wrongs. i think that happens with every administration because they pander to their party's extreme base. some are just worse than others.

but here is where i am different than many on this board. i have faith in democracy. i believe the pendulum may swing to the extreme left, the extreme right, but it will always swing back. i think that wrongs are rightable. im not saying there wont be hardship and frustration and things that piss me off. but i believe things can get better again. and i will never give up hope we can find the middle instead of going to extremes.

    maybe. so?

"lip service"? to the spill maybe, but to the economy?---already forget all the bitching about the stimulus?

afghanistan? you try to tell the families of the additional 30k troops that its lip service.

    so?

what do those things you dont like have to do with obama's stance on the Az law? --you think he shouldnt bother with it because he has other things to do like healthcare and economy you mention? well hes already given them almost all of his time since hes been potus. if anything you should consider his stance on the az law "lip service", and worry about other stuff.

sure things always swing back in a democracy, but not just wrt politics on a scale of a few years. the unfortunate swing back is in the growth and stability of the economy for 30 (or even 60) yrs.

So? I'm trying to explain to you why I feel Obama's agenda is political.

The "stimulus" was over a year ago and it hasn't done squat to help the economy. Census jobs and increasing the government payroll is not the answer. Cutting taxes and spending and helping businesses prosper is.

McCrystal wanted 90K and it took Obama over 6 months to OK a third of that.

Again, I'm explainig why Obama is against the Arizona law and securing the border and for amnesty.

I worry about all of it. Obama does not have the executive experience or the skill to turn the economy around, coordinate the efforts to plug the well and clean up the mess, wage a succesful war on terror and protect border states from an influx of drug terrorists and welfare wannabes. Obama's skill is rhetoric, speeches and running for something. He's the dog that caught the car and doesn't know what to do with it.

ok, say its 100% political (which i dont buy), i dont see a ethical problem with it--or is that not your point. he's made no major u-turns, the big stuff he's done is what he ran on--and he was elected. you should be more clear and say why are you against his agenda being political.

whats the dif between political and compromise?

how do you explain the list of issues where O has pissed off the left?

if your point is leftist policies are bad for the country, then there is no need to say it.

    still not "lip service"

    still not "lip service"

what has he done to show you he's against it, besides "lip service"?

    economy---we'll see

    the well--not really his job

war--no other bombs have gone off.

border--whats new? it has never been secure.

but my real answer is---so. that horse has left the barn. youre arguing something that was valid 2 yrs ago. unless you are starting a campaign to impeach him.

Obama is sending us into the crapper. His policies do not and will not work.

I'm not trying to convince you or change your mind about the chosen one.
Accept that I live to see him gone. If he's your guy, put that Obama bumper sticker on your Mini Cooper and drive around proudly.

i think that all bumper stickers are stupid.

but if you arent trying to convince me of something or change my mind then you are wasting my and your time. i come here to have my mind changed.
