Yes, not like him and very surprising. It has rankled some folks at App State too. Don't know any of the kids (no shade intended) but most in Boone feel like there had to be character or academic issues behind it. The coach we know would never pull a scholly like this otherwise.He is usually one of the biggest advocates for and developer of kids. It's very weird.
He probably wants players who fit into his system. Petrino got fired for losing with the players he had recruited.
I'm sure that is true. He is known for developing kids and finding "players" a place they can contribute. Lot of kids at App were successful in roles originally not intended. Defensive linemen to tight end, running backs to safety, etc. Heck at App he took athletes just to get them and our walk on development is almost legendary. He is also very good at recognizing ability. Let's face it, App State can't compete with the LSU's of the world for recruits. He got the most out of what he had.
He did a great job of doing the very best with the best players he could get. He won't compete with the LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc. level of the very elite but he should be able to get Louisville back to being competitive in the ACC. It's only been a couple of years since Louisville was relevant. I don't know how Petrino let them slide so far so fast.
Because he’s such a dickwad. At some point a coach with no character who is recruiting alike players is going to fail.
