My worst was an extra inning Valentines Day game. I kept having players ask me to go talk to their girlfriends and ask if it was okay if they skimmed dinner. I think we got out of there around 12pm. I can't tell you how many times I had the girls ask me when the game was going to be over. I had to explain there was no time limit... Best was super regionals in 2004 because I knew I was headed to Omaha which made the victory even sweeter.
I was informed that my tickets should arrive later this month or the beginning of February. I'm looking forward to opening night in the new Box!
Those green seats really bother me. I'm sure it will look great once there is more purple and gold everywhere though.
It was against Long Beach State. I don't know if you remember it, but one of the LBS guys, the shortstop, came out in the bottom of the first inning in short sleeves. The next time he came out of the dugout he had long sleeves. He got ribbed pretty good over that. If memory serves me Matt Heath hit the game winner in the 11th.
FYI...the "old" Alex Box held 7,760 and the "new" Alex Box will hold 8,700 fans or roughly a 12% increase. LSU's record in Alex Box since 1984 (Skip Bertman era): 728-196-4 When looking toward center field, you'll have a great view of Tiger Stadium. I can't wait until LSU cranks a few over the centerfield fence on national tv and the audience gets to see a shot of that massive Death Valley in the distance. I don't know if the field dimensions will be the same.
After each home game in the old Box they gave the kids a chance to come out onto the field and run the bases, so they might enjoy that.
Usually when I went to the Box with my friend who has tickets along the 3rd baseline in left field, there were kids at the fence talking with the players and getting autographs before the game while the players were warming up. But this is near the visitors' dugout where they warm up, so you'd have a better chance hanging around the 1st baseline seats. Some of the more knowledgeable baseball fans around here can tell you how often they do actual meet and greets.
Remind you too much of Zephyr field? Yeah, me too. Before the game while the guys are warming up and after the game near their locker room. Grab a media guide so you can call the guys by name. Don't be offended if some of the guys aren't interested in signing autographs or talking with the fans. Some of the guys love it, others it makes them feel uncomfortable. Only time I know they do any sort of meet and greet is fan day and Coaches Committee Meetings (basically a booster organization for the baseball program.) Finally, you're better off catching a foul ball than asking a bat girl for one. :thumb:
