They must be making good progress over there at the new Box. They have been playing country music very loudly on the new PA system this afternoon and you can hear it fine from my building.
Never been to an LSU baseball game. Planning on changing that this season with my 6yr/old. When do tickets to individual games go on sale to the public?
Ticket office guy told me there was no date set as of yet. They are still going through and dividing season ticket holders and finding them a place in the new stadium.
Went to the old Box one time, to cover a game in which a kid from the big MC was pitching against the Tigers. Shot it from that ground level pad between home and the 1B line dugout. Nerve-wracking....too damn close to the action. Cresse hit a ball off my home-town hero that may still be rolling somewhere beyond the LF bleachers.
The LSU web site has some updated pics - it says as of 1-7-09, not sure if they really are that current -
Thats what I hear. My little one played T-ball for the first time last summer. So he is all about sports now. He has already been to a football game. Now he wants Baseball.... Some of the best money I have ever spent was taking the kids to see the Tigers play in Tigers Stadium. The look in his eyes when he got his first glimpse of Tiger field was priceless!!! Money well spent.
There was only one time where I was not happy being at Alex Box, and my memory is not holding water today. It was an early-season game against a California team. The temperature was a warm 20-something (brrrrrrr). The game went to extra innings, where an LSU player mercifully hit a lead-off, walk-off homer in the 10th. That was by far the coldest baseball game I have ever and will ever attend. Was anyone else there? I'm thinking circa 2001/2002, but the exact season eludes me.
My worst experience was the Cal State Fullerton debacle at the Box in (what was it?) the '92 Regionals. One of my favorite games was the Regional final in '94 against USC.
