It's the world we live in, unfortunately. We have to assume the worst because the worst happens frequently. Regardless, it was gut-wrenching to have my high school freshman daughter say that one of her first thoughts that went through her head as they went into lockdown was, "Was this morning the last time I would see my mom?" Damn.
