Out of the region - not very often (I'd say 2-3 recruits a year). Out of state - all the time. Our primary region is east Texas to northern part of Florida.
Does anybody know how we sit with J.B. Shugarts the OL from Texas. Rivals said he is set announce his decision soon. Would be big if we could get him
Well, Thomas was kicked off the team, as was Anderson, another OLinemen. In theory, that would mean we need 7 OLinemen, but I just don't see us being able to find that many quality guys, plus you generally don't want that many people at the same position all in the same year. So, despite losing 2 more OL, I still think 5 (maybe 6) is the number we're looking for.
Thats not including the 2 we already have committed, right? Who are some guys you think we will target at the OL position?
I'm saying 5 total, including the 2 guys we have committed. For OT, Daniel Campbell, J.B. Shugarts (probably commited to OSU), and Dallas Thomas. Plus we already have Clay Spencer commited. IMO, an OT like Campbell (high 4 star) is an absolute must this year. There was some talk that it didn't look like Thomas was going to get an offer, but I think he will now with 2 Olinemen getting kicked off. *edit: there's a story on tigerbait right now about another OT interested in us - Teavis Durgin. For OG, P.J. Lonergan is a commit - not sure who else is out there. There will be a few names pop up as the recruiting season goes along. We'll just have to see how it breaks down.
It appears Campbell has eliminated Texas and is now focused on LSU and USC. After summer camps, I expect Campbell could end up a 5 star. I will be waiting anxiously to read his thoughts after he makes a first visit to SoCal.
