I did a search, but didn't see a thread on this... and we typically discuss it every year, so here goes.

What is everyone's opinions on our needs for this class? What position is most important? How many players do you expect us to take at each position?

    We need 2 RBs, 1 FB, 2 TE, 3 WR, 3 LB, 4 DBs (2 safety/hybrids and 2 CBs), 1 QB, 3 DT, 2 DE, and a handful of offensive linemen.

    That's my guess at least.

    1 QB (?Lee, ?Munchie, etc)
2-3 RBs (Maybe One Project RB/FB) (?Storm, ?Lache, etc)
    1 FBs (Worle)
4-5 WRs (Hunter, Davis, Lee, Simon, and ?Reed or Coleman)
    1-2 TEs (Jacobs and ?Dickson)
4 LBs (Muncie, Welter, ?Maclin, ?Lewis, ?Nelson, etc)
1-2 S (Reid) (Maybe an ATH as Well, ala Simon)
3 CBs (Vinson, ?Hurd, ?Stephenson, etc)
3-4 DL (DE Allen, ?DE McCray, etc)
3-4 OL (OT Hardrick, ? OG Rea, ? OT Washington, etc)
    1 P (? Ginsburgh, ? Palardy, etc)

My best guess as of now. My low is at 24 which I think is very possible my high is at 30 which won't and can't happen with the new rule. 24-26 is the range IMO.

I am leaning to 2 RBs, 3 DL (2 DE and 1 DT), 1 Safety, 4 OL. I think Simon is going to be a WR.

In-state guys will come more into the picture and I see those guys could fill in gaps at LB, DL, OL, and maybe a RB.

Bhelm covered it pretty nicely. The positions I'm most interested in right now are RB, OL and DL. And I think, of all the needs, RB is the biggest. Storm looks like a lock, and his film is good, but I'd argue we need 3 RBs. Lache won't make or break this class, but landing him (which is looking very dicey at this point) would be huge.

    QB-1
    RB-3
    FB-1
    WR-4
    TE-1
    OL-4
    DL-3
    LB-4
    CB-3
    S-2
    P-1

My total is 27. I dont see us needing more than 1 Tight End in this class, but I feel like we will take 2 and sign only 2 running backs, when we should sign 3.

A cover corner is first and foremost. Losing out on Jackson this past recruiting season was a blow and we need to recover from it.

Also, I am looking with great interest on the LB situation and the staff having a full recruiting season with Chavis on board and what that can do for that position. A position we have not ever done well with.

I see us with about 27 as well, along the lines of Mastermind's list.

    Good list.

I would say we only need 1 TE as well but the staff is still targeting TEs in this class. Dickson could be a DE/TE prospect if he comes in but we are after a few pure TEs.

I am back and forth on the RBs. I am leaning to 2 because of the amount of guys we have targeted up to this point and the LA 2011 class is going to be loaded with RBs. I think we take 3 next year. But it could be the other way around and we take 3 this year and hope to entice Hill and Hilliard as the only 2 RBs next year.

Only way we take 4 WRs IMO is if someone already committed drops out. Simon is too tall to be a Safety IMO so we have 4 WRs already and leaving room for Reed.

CB is our biggest need IMO followed by WR because we only took one pure WR last year and the staff has made it a priority. LB and OL are big needs as well.

Which brings me back to reevaluate my DE prediction, we are targeting like 3-4 DTs and 3 DE. Now we know that the kid from West Monroe is pretty much a lock, if we take Dickson as a DE/TE, that is 2 already along the DL. What if Bynum and a few of the DTs want to committ? Where do we shorten our load at to accomdate.

There are only a few DEs we have a better than average shot at IMO. Jordan Allen is one and the others are Dickson (if he plays on defense) and McCray. Benay Pryer could also be a factor.

As for DT, I can only see Torrea Peterson or the Juco Bonomolo. Look for in-state guys like Elliot Porter, etc. enter the picture as well. NSD possibility could be a guy like Garrison Smith, etc..

    Not sure who Bynum is.

    0-1 QB
    2 RBs
    1 FB
    4 WRs
    1-2 TEs
    3 LBs
    1-2 S
    3 CBs
    4 DL
    3-4 OL

    Low of 22, high of 26. I think 26 is a maximum, and that's assuming a non-qualifier or 2.

If the coaches expect Lee to stay at LSU & Sheperd to stay at QB, I don't think we'll take a QB. It all depends on what they expect to happen there, because 5 scholarship QB's, all Jr's or younger, is too much.

I think we'd like to take 2 TE's, I'm just not sure that there are 2 out there for us.

LB is the most important position for this year's class, IMO. We lose 3 starters after this year, and the other will be a Sr the following year.

We've got some young depth at CB & DL, but these are also important positions for this class.
