That's the coaches decision. And they don't have much of a choice if they want to extend play. Football is a team sport. Let the team win the game.

It already happens with the current situation. If I were the kicker, I'd be pissed they didn't bust their ass more not to put me in that situation.

We're in overtime, tied. Someone isn't bustin ass enough for four quarters now they've had their chance taken out of their hands.

BTW, there should be a stipulation that if a game ends 0-0, it stays 0-0. If ONE team can't score after four, leave it a tie. Put that into the BCS formula.

If that's how you feel then they should just leave it a tie. Because if any field goal is missed during regulation the kicker wasn't bustin his ass and shouldn't be rewarded the opportunity to play in overtime.

So, did we ever get a definitive answer?

Was it the chicken or the egg?

I can never remember how that worked....

Ah, mate......what you're not factoring in is that it is a "Team sport"..... even when the FG kicker is hooking one...or splitting the uprights.

There's a snap, blocking, a hold, he's not out there on an island any more than any play in which the QB drops back to pass.

I assumed it was just going to be the kicker out there with a holder. Kind of like a halftime contest. Either way it's still not a good idea. Can you run a fake?

I'm a little out of shape but would be willing to try.

Oh, I was assuming you meant me. Okay, I quit. :thumb:

this was my belief. i think its correct.

i could see a possession for each on a regulation kickoff. the defenses are so worn out in OT it seems likely one side will score in most games.

its unfair to the defenses the more I see the current system. especially later in the season. UT and UK was just another example. no one could stop anyone there either.

worst idea ever. no kickers at all would be best.

not a bad idea. would end them quicker. I think Nutt/Arky have the 2 longest OT games in history with 7. one was ole miss that was the first and i think they beat UT in 7 OT's a couple of years ago? too long. plus the skewed stats count against the defenses and for the offenses. ridiculous.

sudden death doesnt give opportunity to both offenses which brings it to the luck of a coin flip. me no likey.
