as to why UF's associate head coach left UF to become an assistant at WVU.

Right-hand man to Urban Meyer is like the hottest assistant job out there. I don't get it.

Any gator fan can give us the story? :)

He also let go of a coach he had hired just the prior year in an effort to increase the pipeline from CA to FL. It was the Taft HS coach from California who happened to be Jamere Holland's HS coach. Jamere was dismissed from USC after it was learned that he was talking to other coaches :)rolleye33: ) and then to other players. Jamere subsequently transferred to Oregon while his former teammate and friend Emmanuel Moody transfered to Florida.

Things that make you go hmmmm. And don't forget about the schollie for Carl Moore's girlfriend and Patchan's sister, and Pastor Tebow working on James Wilson. The texting rule put in place really ought to be called the Meyer rule.

I'm no fan of Meyer .... but his use of intermediaries to circumvent the new text-ban rules is hardly an indictment when you consider this practice to be the norm. This practice is rampant, and that includes both the Pac-10 and the SEC.

Besides, the rule only covers text, not e-mail. Hell, even an old fahrt like me uses a handset to check e-mail these days. The recruits are technology savvy, ....

The reality is that nothing has really changed other than the NCAA flapping their wings and crowing as if they've accomplished something meaningful in protecting "student athletes." As usual, the NCAA is a day late and a dollar short.

I know of one Florida journalist that has been on the scent of this story since the very day the rule was implemented in August. Perhaps the word "announced" would be better than the word "implemented" .... $1 to Slive.

I found it funny for the BCS Title game when Jimmy Johnson said a wise crack about how Urban had been on the phone all day calling recruits, then the host of the show said it was a recruiting dead-period.

Urban and Jimmy's faces both dropped in a collective "oops" moment.
