Here are a couple of Les quotes. There are more but my stupid phone is acting up. Same article that Red got his quote from has him (les) saying that BH attitude and effort are exactly where they need to be. "He’s improving, legitimately improving with each snap he takes,” Miles said. http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/10826966-123/lsu-quarterback-brandon-harris-will "I think Brandon Harris is improving," LSU coach Les Miles said Wednesday night after practice. "I think there's a potential of getting him in the game http://www.thetowntalk.com/story/sp...-notes-brandon-harris-play-saturday/18575901/
So do y'all think Les is just fucking with everyone? He wakes up and says to himself, "how can I make the fanbase miserable, Oh I know, let's throw Harris out there like that old man in the State Farm commercial with the dollar bill on the fishing pole." If Harris was better than Jennings wouldn't he have been playing more?
That my friend is the quandary. Miles says he is doing this and that and blah blah but then we get nothing. To break it down for you, it would make more sense if he came out and said "he just isn't getting it" instead he says the opposite.
Next season is going to be even more interesting than this one. I'm gonna start popping the low dose aspirin in the off season to prepare myself. It may be the last time I watch a Lsu game until miles figures shit out or decides to leave.
I hope you change your mind between now and next September. Les isn't going anywhere unless he decides to go. You know the answer to the first part.
You know, if Miles DID say Harris wasn't there yet, we would all shut up about it and then just complain that it takes an act of God for our QB to have 200 yards passing a game. All my wasted effort talking about Harris could have been spent doing a rain dance for Jennings!
Ask Welter and Beckwith. Who the hell really knows? For whatever reason, Jennings is the guy Miles wants. He calls Harris explosive while calling Jennings steady. So obviously he sees the pure talent gap. And as much as you want to make it like Harris is just not very good, it's not true. The gap in talent is enormous. I think you nailed a couple of months ago when you said Miles is gun shy after 2008 with a bunch of young QBs who were ultimately ruined. To be explosive you have to take risks and there's a huge difference (to Les Miles) in taking risks with a senior Zach Mettenberger and veteran receivers who are playing for their draft status and have been in the system...against a true freshman Brandon Harris and a very young, but VERY talented receiver core who you need for at least a couple more years. So I believe he played the odds. He HAS to play the young receivers because he doesn't have any others to play. He doesn't HAVE to play Harris in what is supposed to be a rebuilding year. It's pussy coaching but you can't argue the frame of reference (2008). Last year you had nothing to lose. This year you have everything to lose. To be fair to Harris, he's not complaining. We are. None of us can really look into the mind of Miles so again, who really knows his reasoning. I'm only basing my reasoning on my conversations with guys who are close to members of the staff. The staff is only going to say so much but they are definitely supportive and the players get it. The only thing I know for an absolute fact is that Harris is a much better talent with a much higher ceiling than Jennings. But right now Miles wants to run the ball and control the clock instead of putting too much on young QBs and WRs that take longer to develop than stud RBs. It's not pretty and doesn't produce the wins we want but I respect that. I know people have their doubts but I (and others) would be shocked if Harris doesn't close the door on this in the spring.
Harris will close the door after spring and I sure hope that when the door closes, Harris is still at LSU.
