fired solich, who took over a better program and had a better record. Pelini went 9-3 every year i believe. this is why many are scared to look past miles. do you stand pat or hit if miles regresses from here. http://btn.com/2014/11/30/nebraska-fires-football-coach-bo-pelini-after-seven-seasons/
Will be interesting to see how this goes, I have a feeling Nebraska isn't the destination it once was for coaches or players.
They are going to hire Scott Frost from Oregon. They realize that Defense is important, but the game has changed. It is much more important to have a dynamic offense and play enough defense. Evolve or die. MILES should take a lesson from Bill Belichick and Saban. They realized the game has changed and evolved. Bama started in the 2011 NC game. They came out chucking it and we tried the same stuff and it didn't work. And it appeared our staff preferred to lose than to adjust.
In the new Internet age so many more teams are able to recruit nationally. It's no longer just Notre Dame, Nebraska and Michigan. Nebraska's days at the top are over. Pellini took them just about as high as they could go. I think his personality and coaching style played a large part in his firing.
This, he and the higher ups didn't see eye to eye. Much like Mich, most of Neb problems are off the field.
Internal fighting from within, hurts a school, some just don't see this. Muschamp was one of the hotter names in coaching about 5 years ago, now unemployed. Like I say, thin line from Hot name to hot seat. Last year at this time if Mullen had lost the Egg Bowl, he was to be fired, yesterday, he lost the same bowl. What to do now? If he is to leave, this is his year. If not, he will have to wait for another perfect storm season. For him, those are few and far in between. Like I said, Jimbo Fisher had the MooU job before they hired Croom, but passed. Sometimes its better to hold off for the right job. Sometimes, its better to move when you have the hot name, than to wait for the hot seat.
Pelini had a better winning percentage during his 7 years than the legendary Tom Osborne had in his first 7 years. But no championships.
Yep. Pellini is kind of a dick. He made no friends in Nebraska and had no support when he could have used it.
