This from ESPN....I wonder if Gunner is regretting his decision. This could be a real blow to the Irish. Couldn't happen to a better team. http://espn.go.com/college-football...erett-golson-leaves-notre-dame-fighting-irish
Rumor is he cheated on finals. Rees will step in and they'll be okay. They weren't going to BR great this year anyway.
Word is he plagerized a final paper, and was kicked out of school. Have to believe there's more to it. Seems like a pretty hard blow for not re-wording someone elses work enough.
Plagiarism is looked at as a high crime at some institutions. From what I gather about Notre Dame and their academic standards, once may be enough to get the boot.
Plagiarism is a high crime at EVERY institution. "Not rewording someone else's work enough" misses the point. You need to credit any and all work that is not yours. Rewording someone's work IS cheating if you don't cite the person and work it came from.
This is what I meant to say. Just that some institutions take it more seriously than others, dealing with it more swiftly and severely with no tolerance whatsoever. I would assume that ND falls in this group of "some". Exactly, rewording someone's work without giving them credit is still plagiarism. One might get away with such at a some schools, but that dog won't hunt at a real college or university.
It seems like it would be so easy to do considering the amount of reading students at big academic schools, like ND, Stanford, Harvard, etc, have to do. I can imagine reading until 3am, kind of falling asleep while doing it, then subconsciously thinking an idea or thought is your own because you read it while nodding off.
I know at my university 1 time was enough to get your ass expelled, so not surprised a place like ND would expel for a single time also.
