Did anyone notice this.....? The members of the Division I Committee on Infractions who reviewed this case include Dennis Thomas, the commissioner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and chair of the Committee on Infractions. Other members are Roscoe C. Howard, Jr., attorney; Thomas Yeager, commissioner of the Colonial Athletic Association; Eleanor Myers, faculty athletics representative and law professor at Temple University; Melissa Conboy, deputy director of athletics at the University of Notre Dame; James O'Fallon, law professor and faculty athletics representative for the University of Oregon; and Britton Banowsky, commissioner of Conference USA. Not that it matters.
"He pointed specifically to senior associate athletic director Miriam Segar, who became suspicious of Hicks' living arrangements from the time he arrived in Baton Rouge. According to an earlier LSU report on the matter, Segar spent weeks pressing for answers and made the decision to bar Hicks from traveling to LSU's 2009 season-opening game at Washington because she was unsatisfied with the information she had received." "That was critical," said Thomas, who is also the commissioner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. "If that had not been done, the institution could have really been under more severe and serious penalties as well." God bless that woman.
Seriously, I learned this lesson when I was 6 and my Mom would catch me misbehaving. It's just so simple. You don’t poke the bear, you don't flip off the cops, you don't moon the judge, and you don't piss off people with authority over you. It always pays off if you are apologetic, compliant and stroke the ego of whoever has the goods on you. Lying is always stupid in these situations, right Tressel. And “you’re not the boss of me arrogance” usually gets slapped down. Because people in enforcement jobs eat a lot of chit because of their jobs, and they just love it when they have a chance to cough it up on someone. Are you listening Condoms, are you paying attention Kiffen, can you hear the NCAA now Ga Tech. Over on the GA Tech blogs their saying things like ‘We shouldn’t have to bend over for the NCAA’; and ‘NCAA just wanted to show who is boss’; and all that kind of stuff. They think we got a slap on the wrist because LSU is a cash cow for the NCAA. Really morons, then how do you explain USCondom? LSU sports administration deserves a lot of credit for the job they did. In a summer of continuing football investigations LSU is the school that got it right. When you make a mistake you admit it, fix it, and move on. EDIT - And senior associate athletic director Miriam Segar better get a bonus and raise. In the long haul she saved the school 10s of thousands of dollars. Maybe 100s of thousands.
and..... you dont tug on superman's cape, you dont spit into the wind, you dont pull the mask off the ol' lone ranger, and you dont mess around with slim.
and most are ignoring the sanctions we had already placed on ourselves which included a loss of two scholarships. it is being portrayed as the one year probation is all we got. no, that is all we got in addition. and i agree on the associate a.d. that pursued this needs a raise.
