I'm starting to like our chances more against Alabama. If anyone in this league is really good at throwing the ball to the other team it's Jake Coker. The defense has gotten better each week against the run. The one thing that is tricky though and you wouldn't expect is Coker's ability to pick up first downs with his legs, which you wouldn't think because he isn't a runner. I've seen it so many times this year, if he sees a lane he is running and he is a big guy that breaks a lot of tackles. LSU is going to have to stay in their lanes and play disciplined football.
Definitely liking our chances more after this weekend. The passing game opening up in the first half is what LSU needs to beat a team like Bama. However LSU can not get uber conservative against Bama if they get a lead. Agreed, the D must be disciplined, keeping containment against Bama. Also they MUST do a better job of wrapping up and driving through the tackle.
Unfortunately you're right. Hopefully it doesn't bite us in the ass like it has recently against Bama.
I think the key against 'Bama will be stopping the run. If we can contain Henry on first and second downs, we will force the ball into Coker's hands. Who controls the line of scrimmage on both sides will determine the outcome [as it usually does].
Our D isn't getting very many turnovers. We're pretty stout against the run. Pretty poor against the pass. Creating a few turnovers would help our D tremendously. And ST... yikes! We better get our coverage units fixed PDQ before it costs us all of our team goals.
