Let me preface my remarks by stating I'm not a stats guru. I've always felt they tell a portion of the story, but not the complete story.

Looking at the latest NCAA stats for offense and defense confirm for me a lot of what I've seen from the Tigers between the lines.

120 teams are ranked by the NCAA.

    Total Offense: #105
    Rushing Offense: #74
    Passing Offense: #90

    Total Defense: #49
    Rushing Defense: #65
    Passing Defense: #48

Make of them what you will.

The anemic offense and running game keeps the defense on the field a ton.. I'd say we're playing like a top-15 defense.

We look like TN has years past.

Yup the story of the guy who drown in a River that averaged 2 feet deep.
    Means nothing.
Have faith young Jedi's Many of you are predicting "our rapings" and "firings of coaches"
I say let see what happens. If LSU can go split these two games against UGA and UF. I will be as happy as a pig in slop.

Then we can worry about the rest. Lets see what happens the next 2-3 weeks then all of you can start mashing the panic button. SO far we are 4-0, fine with me....

Everything is connected, you have to remember that. Weather, opponent.... Poor D can affect your O, turnovers can affect your D stats... So stats are not always great indicators of where a team is, and some times lead to false positives.

I believe that by the end of the year, the stats even out, and are a great indication where the team is. But earlier in the year, can be skewed by the small set of data.

I think its weird for some fans, as in years past we were usually ranked pretty high in the stats department. And I think in years past, that was skewed from the opponents, going into the Georgia game last year was a perfect example. Our D looked great up until that point. Anyway, thanks for the numbers.

I for one am happy of our struggles so far this year, I think it has added character to our team. Fight we didn't have last year on D. I believe that will start showing itself later in the year, injuries aside.

    Our Opponents Rankings

    Washington

    Rush Offense 94
    Pass Offense 38
    Total Offense 70

    Rush Defense 106
    Pass Defense 41
    Total Defense 83

    Vandy

    Rush Offense 29
    Pass Offense 102
    Total Offense 61

    Rush Defense 87
    Pass Defense 2
    Total Defense 19

    ULL

    Rush Offense 74
    Pass Offense 74
    Total Offense 91

    Rush Defense 78
    Pass Defense 78
    Total Defense 84

    MISS ST

    Rush Offense 26
    Pass Offense 112
    Total Offense 76

    Rush Defense 56
    Pass Defense 33
    Total Defense 31

Most telling stat = We have the #74 ranked rushing offense against teams that have an average rush defense rank of #82. And they are only ranked that high because of playing us.

Truth is, without dropping down to the D1AA ranks, we couldn't have played much lower class of opponents.

Cry me a river. Either way, we played teams that could all go bowling and I am thankfull for that.

I expected LSU to be a 2-3 loss team this year. We will be in a fight with every game from here on. We know the team has Heart now. Now they just need to find the means to gel.

SO now posting mathmatical statistics that do not shine a positive light on the Tigers is crying?

Good lord some of you are just completely out the box with the p&g koolaid.

Im not but you basically said that the teams we played are among the worse in CFB.

And P&G koolaid would be me saying LSU is 12-0 baby. But fact is, the teams we played could easily go to some bowl games.
