He probably couldn't handle New Orleans. Not enough bar rooms.

And i want the Falcons to draft McCarron. I'd much rather have Manziel as a Saint than McCarron

Neither one would make the roster. Brees has a few good years left, and before he was ever drafted, I was saying that Chase Daniel would be a good fit for the Saints offense. He plays with the same style. Not as good, mind you, but with the same style.

Absolutley, no he doesn't have the character that Tebow has. Tebow handled the pressure and attention remarkably. These guys are thrust into these positions of fame through their performance on the field, so they have to expect the scrutiny of every action.
I don't want to hear these guys complain about all the attention. It comes with the territory. Not to mention he brings a lot of this "unwanted" attention on himself by posting pics on twitter. If you want to party and get asked about it by the press, tell them you are a college kid and this is what a lot of college kids do. Don't sit there and complain about all the attention you're getting.

I agree. He will be gone next year if he has a good year again.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if he is banned this season just because he wanted some rims on his car, when his family is loaded.

I was on the fence about Manziel until I read the Wright Thompson article. Now, I don't like him even though I'm midly sympathetic to having all of that suffocating pressure at his age.

One of my rare posts on FB was during the Bama/A&M game last year when a friend said they were pulling for the Aggies. I replied "Johnny Foosball versus the Debil". I really want to see the sequel because either way, I'll be somewhat satisfied with the outcome. Either Bama gets their revenge and the Foosball-hype dies a little, or the Aggies stun Bama two years in a row.

Someone should make a Weird Al style song called "Devil Came Down to Texas" since it already references Johnny in the song. Saban is the Devil since he fits the character so naturally.

At his age? Seriously? At his age?

All this talk about "I'm just a 20 yr old" kid just goes to show what he's made of. Hell, he's not the youngest player to ever win the Heisman, just the first freshman (redshirted.)

The only thing I can agree with—and do so wholeheartedly—is he's a talented football player. Everything else? I don't know how to put it other than "it's just a load of crap."

The media spotlight is difficult for him to deal with...all at the same time he's having two interviews with major, national media outlets? How is something you agree with, invite, suffocating?

I admit this continuing story grabs my attention. I can't deny that his schtick is getting old.

We live in much different world today than even five years ago. If he goes to the grocery store in College Station, someone is tweeting about it and instantly you have students showing up to see him. I've always heard about the Aggie cult and he became their "chosen one". Now, they are realizing he doesn't fully live up to their ideals so that brings another dynamic.

At 20 yrs old, there was a part of me that wanted to be "cool" and could see myself falling into some of the same traps (such as using twitter and wanting to hang out with celebrities). However, overall, my nature is generally not to bring attention to myself unless it's a special (temporary) circumstance. For example, I don't have anything against tattoos (on others) but would never want one because I know that I would be able to feel people looking at it (forever). Sometimes you don't realize how your actions will affect the reactions you receive.

    No disagreement here at all.

However, let's address one thing here; "Sometimes you don't realize how your actions will affect the reactions you receive."

That doesn't fly with me in this case.

Consider. Here's a kid about to get kicked out of school but the football program intervenes and he's allowed to stay. What would that tell anyone?

One, I screwed up so badly I am about to be kicked out of school. I need to change.

Two. Repercussions be damned. My parents bailed me out as a kid and now my coach and football staff are doing the same thing.

One is the thought process of a rational individual. You can find pre-teen children that realize a mistake leads to consequences. AS LONG AS there are consequences.

The second? Take out and weigh the term sociopath.
