Actually, the bball program was very close to being in trouble and must go through May without losing a player to stay out of it.

2 transfer who left the baseball program quit going to class last year and that hurt the baseball team.

Well it appears that Tennessee has lost one men's basketball schollie. USC lost 2. We've had so many players leave for the NBA over the last few years and apparently none of them were in good academic standing. Still so interested in Coach Floyd now? :wave:

LSU is below the 925 but like other schools, only received a warning.

There were 507 teams that posted APRs beneath 925 but didn't draw sanctions because they had no athletes who left school while academically ineligible or their schools sought and received waivers — granted by the NCAA when there are mitigating circumstances and the institution has an acceptable academic improvement plan.
Among the sub-925 programs not hit: six in men's basketball that have made the Final Four since 2002 (Indiana, Maryland, Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma and Florida); 16 in major college football, including Arizona, Purdue, Oregon and South Carolina; and 54 in baseball, including No. 8-ranked Oklahoma State, No. 18 Coastal Carolina and five-time College World Series champion Arizona State.
"That raises the question: How can so many schools avoid sanctions?" said Nathan Tublitz, a neuroscience professor at Oregon who co-chairs the Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics, an alliance of faculty senates at Division I universities. "One can understand a few exceptions. One can understand that some schools have good reasons. But for so many schools to have so many good reasons raises the question of whether there's really any bite to this academic performance package and the sanctions that are supposed to be issued."

Tublitz makes some good points and surprising too considering Oregon was a school that missed being penalized.

Major edit: Just read up and found out I made a few erroneous guesses about where USC's problems were coming from. Bad, bad Trojan.

USC chose to accept its penalty during the 2007-08 basketball season after being informed by the NCAA last fall that it faced scholarship losses, said associate athletic director Magdi El Shahawy. The Trojans had the option to defer the penalty until next season.

The Trojans were penalized in part because Lodrick Stewart, Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt stopped attending class after USC lost in the round of 16 in the 2007 NCAA tournament. "I knew that this was a possibility when I took the job and that things were going to have to be darn near perfect for us not to take a hit," said USC basketball Coach Tim Floyd, who inherited a team with the fifth-lowest APR in the nation when he was hired in January 2005. "We just had too far to climb and grow."

OJ Mayo and Davon Jefferson DID finish taking classes this term and have not had a negative impact on our APR.
