Well KG was on a championship caliber team for about 3-4 years in a row except for the fact that they had a dipshyt of a coach named Flip Saunders (who is currently tormenting Pistons fans).
I just don't see how their roster stacks up, without Lebron's heroics. I kind of hope I'm wrong, as I really like watching him play. That's a good point. It's just so weird to consider them anything other than the joke of the league. I don't really care that they won those games earlier this year, but they do have a decent team. I'm sure they'll try to figure out how to trade all of their players away before the All-Star break. They do need a star, but their style can work pretty well without one. They have the keys to success, in a solid PG, defensive center, athletic power forward, scoring machine at SF and a solid 2 guard. They've got depth too, which will play out as the season progresses. Good heavens I hope that's the match-up. I have been a Celtics fan since birth, and still get grief from buddies that have known me a while. After moving to Houston years ago, I developed into a Rockets fan. Kind of like my Dolphins/Texans situation, except neither NBA team sucks this year.
Are these ranking based on the 1st 6 games of the season or projections for the year? Rockets were at home but taken out by Utah anyway and the Rockets are still an injury or two away from not living up to expections again. I think they will be better but I am not falling for it again until they show me differently. The Jazz have the pieces from last year that got better and better as the season went on. Losing Fisher is not a huge blow by any means. They will be better than the Nuggets as well IMO. I am sticking to my predictions and I also hope the Rockets prove me wrong and can battle through injuries.
never did I say they were 6-game predictions, but all things being held constant, with a new offensive system and a high roster turnover, I think Houston has a lot more room to improve as the year goes on. and you underestimate Fisher, but he is a "battier" of a team. A guy who does all the hard-nose work.
Not underestimating Fisher at all. I watched almost all the Jazz games last year and know what he brings to the table but I think Giricek and Ronnie Brewer can fill that role plus more IMO. Sloan gets the most out of his players every year. Harpring, Deron Williams, Kirilenko, and Paul Millsap out of La Tech will continue to be the hard-nose players of the team. With most of the scoring coming from Boozer, Okur, and Williams. This will be a very physical team again this year that will wear down their opponets down the end stretch.
my rockets (and NLMD's rockets) played like crap for roughly 40 minutes today, but made plays when it mattered most to hang on, on the road against the Bobcats. Yao had 30 something again, b/c he is a man-child.
Yeah, he is improving at an eerily consistent rate. And Ray Felton proves is still one of the most underrated players in the league. At least he now has a coach that will play him.
well if Mac had to have a hurt elbow, I guess now is the time to do it, b/c they'd probably be losing to the Suns, Spurs, etc... whether he was there or not.
...at least his back isn't hurting yet, although it just seems to be a matter of time. Some stars just can't stay healthy...
