Maybe he'll give the trophy to Gasol. Kobe: the MVP that didn't want to be with the Lakers, bitched and moaned the entire first half of the season, whose team underperformed until the arrival of another player, and one of the most selfish players to today's game. MVP. MVP. MVP.
not sure why gasol wants kobes trophy true and false false false, you might want to check that false true, true, true
May 30, 2007. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/05/30/is-kobe-bryant-the-new-terrell-owens/ It's "Kobe's time", and I get that. Doesn't mean it's fair. But who said we live in a fair world? You won't find me saying that Kobe is not an extremely gifted athlete, but to me, one of the most important aspects of being an MVP is being a team player (and a team player doesn't repeatedly ask to be traded and demand that the front office do things, in my opinion).
I hope he gets a bigger head due to the award, reverts back to taking all the shots, scores 50 points a game, and the Lakers still lose as a result of him not passing the ball. That I would like to see. I hope the Hornets win it all. If not, then anybody but the Celtics and Lakers.
Thats why the MVP is voted on for ONE basketball season. None of that occurred this season. Had that occured, I would certainly agree with you. I like to see them start losing because of him "not passing the ball" first, then I might agree with you. It is a pretty simple concept -- he takes a lot oif shots when his teammates sucked. After Bynum developed, Fisher returned, and Gasol was aquired he took way fewer shots...easy concept. He is not like Agent 0. Im not a blind homer as you can see with LSU conversations, and I am not going to make up stuff to defend or protest any situation.
Though I don't have a quote handy, it's been argued that it was Kobe's "time" and that it's a makeup for him not getting the MVP in prior seasons (due to the alleged rape incident, perhaps?). Also, am I mistaken, but wasn't there a push for a trade right before and right after the season started?
No, there was, but it all stemmed from earlier in the summer when he met with Kupchak and Buss. However, once the season started he put it behind him and didnt cry about it, and gave 100% for his team. Had itn been any different I wouldn't have had him even with Paul in my mind. As for the make up vote I dont think that is the case -- to many votes from around the country, including those that didnt vote for him the first time...maybe they just thought he was the MVP?
I think Bryant had a fantastic year but there's no doubt in my mind he received the award based on the fact he had never won it before.
