Well, enjoy watching Dwight Howard because he has potential to be an all-time great in the league -- and a certain Hall of Famer if he stays healthy.

Detroit, Boston and Orlando seem to be the only real threats to make it out of the East.

I think Detroit will win out in a great 7 game series vs Boston. I like Boston, but I just think the inexperience of Rondo will catch up to them in the end. Detroit has a pretty damn good point guard if I remember correctly.

Looks like Cassell may sign with the Celtics. With the Alien signing and the addition of PJ Brown the C's become the favorites in East. Cassell has already played with KG and Ray Allen so they should click right away and PJ can hit the open 15-17 footer when teams are trying to stop KG/Ray/Pierce/Cassell.

It's looking like the finals will be a matchup for the ages, Lakers vs. Celtics.

everyone thinks the Lakers have a bye to the finals, for some reason, but I don't see it that way...

Sure, they have weapons out the wazoo, but to be the champs you have to beat the champs.

As much grief as I gave them earlier in the season, the Spurs are rock 'n' rollin.

Only people that listen to the media think that. Anyone that has watched them play knows that is will be incredibly hard.

Ok, assuming that Bynum comes back healthy, the Lakers should be the favorites in the West and not just because the media says so. They have the weapons at every position but it may come down to how well Gasol responds to the pressure. He's a baller, but has he ever even been in a playoff game?

Of course you can never count out the Spurs, they just know how to win games when it counts. But it's obvious now that the Suns aren't going to make it very far. That leaves Dallas, who I don't think can beat LA or San Antonio in 7 and Utah - probably matchup better against any team except LA. The wildcard will be New Orleans - still too young to make the finals although we'd all like to see that.

With that said, that is a lot of teams in the West with a legit shot. It will be fun to watch the NBA these next couple of months and I don't think there will be one boring series in the playoffs.

I would throw Houton in there. The Lakers are pretty young too... Farmar, Walton, Turiaf, Bynum, and the Europeans.
