I haven't been around much because of work and I see the NASCAR talk has dropped off severely.

I'll start things up again with the COT. I thought the Bristol race was descent. For Martinsville, I think the biggest thing we learned is that there will be no more "bump n' run" passing. Jeff Gordon found that out the hard way trying to pass his "carbon copy" teammate Jimmy Johnson. Not to mention they still have to figure out how NOT to burn up the insulation in the door panels. And this weekend we found out that they still haven't figured out how to make these new tanks turn well enough to pass someone.

Personally, I like the way the new car looks, plus the fact that its safer. But you have to admit, the racing isn't that great. The only teams that really are figuring it out is Hendrick and Gibbs (even though Smoke hates it). If these smaller teams don't figure something out fast we will be in for some boring races next year.

    Thoughts?

I agree with you for the most part, but I don't think any of the drivers really like it. I mean some aren't as verbal (Smoke) about it as others but I think thier "non answers" when asked are probably a good indication that they are not thrilled with the car.

Now my personal opinion is that the car will be fine like everything else NASCAR does they will tweek certain areas and make certain changes and everybody will get the hang of it and NASCAR will be fine.

NASCAR is making changes as we speak. The COT is gonna become the car of today rather quickly except maybe a little wider with spoilers. Nascar didnt do enough testing with the car and are basically testing it now during live racing. All the tweaks they've done or contemplating basically revert back to the car of today. All in all I think the COT is a failure.

Nascar's popularity has pretty much leveled. Having a failed COT doesnt help keep the fringe fans on board. The COT races have been BOOOOORING and its reflected in bad TV ratings. They need to get this sorted out sooner rather than later.

WOW! You really thought Saturday's race was boring???!!! I will admit some of them haven't been great but every year there are those that aren't but I thought Saturday's race was GREAT!!! Three wide in the turns and the Gordon/Stewart/Harvick ending! I had a blast watching that race! But that is just me!
