    USC
    UGA
    OSU
    LSU
    UF

From what I've seen so far tonight doesn't justify throwing OK in the mix.

There's no justification needed behind that crap.

Seriously though, based on what I've seen in bowl games, the preseason rankings weren't really too far fetched:

    1. USC
    2. LSU
    3. West Virginia
    4. Texas
    5. Michigan

Nothing they did this year would indicate that they deserve a top 5 ranking next year. They should be happy just to get a top 25 ranking.

Not a bad guess considering USC and Ohio State play each other early in the season like that. The poll voters are tricky like that, they really do take into consideration upcoming games, and rank the teams according to set up a memorable match-up. Be it that they do it on purpose or subconsciously, all of us love to see a memorable match-up.

And yes, Ohio State this year is pretty much made up of all non-Senior players, the very, very best including: CB Jenkins (Jr), LB Laurinaitis (Jr), RB C. Wells (So), and DE Gholston (redshirt Jr). Assuming nobody leaves OSU early for the NFL Draft, the only people of any significance whatsoever that OSU will lose next year are OT Barton (redshirt Sr), LB Grant (Sr), and FB D. Johnson (Sr). Besides those three seniors, there isn't a single player of any significance at all on OSU's team that can't return next year.

Sure, those are guys are proven megasuperstars, but you have some awesome guys like redshirt So. LB Spitler, redshirt Fr. LB Johnson, redshirt Fr. CB Chekwa, redshirt So. DE Worthington, Jr. DE Wilson, and others ready to step up. Ohio State is loaded with talent.

That's awesome that you think LSU would be preseason #1. That hasn't happened since 1959. But, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. I mean seriously, if we had asked this "who are your top 5 for next year" question at the end of last season, who here would have honestly put LSU at #2, which is where we actually started this year? We lost our QB, two WRs, and S to the first round of the NFL Draft last year. And that team of last year only finished #3.

I think we started off at #2 this year out of respect for how good a coaching staff we have (two unexpected blow-out wins over Miami and ND, two unexpected back to back 11-win seasons), how well we've been doing in recruiting over recent years, as well as because the voters wanted to rank us high because they knew we had big games coming up this year (like I was talking about above, voters will rank a team higher to set up memorable match-ups during the season).

If we get an unexpected big win on the 7th against OSU, the voters will attribute that to how good our coaching staff is and how deep our talent base is, and will reward us accordingly in their preseason poll next year, just like they did at the beginning of this year. It also helps that RP will be taking the reigns next year.

I think the media will see enough of Ryan in then NC to put us in the top 3. Texas will be back on track next year, tOSU will be hurt by the results of the NC. Watch for Mizzou, Kansas to come back down, just like I knew Rutgers would.

I think this year has shown us that preseason rankings dont mean a thing. So go ahead and post them. They wont matter.
    Everybody can recruit nowadays.
