and then went to another school and won a national title. Was there one? I'm having a discussion with some friends and we are trying to come up with one.
I think Jim Tressel won on at Youngstown but that is 1-AA. I can't think of anyone that has won at two different division 1 schools.
My point is don't we want a coach that is young and hungry and wants to prove himself, ie. (Peterson?). I'm just asking. Saban has won one and so has Spurrier.......maybe these guys would be on auto pilot. I want somebody that wants to prove something. Spurrier and Saban and even Tubbs maybe, have nothing to prove.
Can't think of one. There's a good reason though. Once you win a NC, it's difficult to see any other lateral job move as career growth and most HC's are type A, show me the money types. However as much as it pains me to say, Lou Holtz is one of the most successful HC's at several jobs in NCAA history. Holtz is the only coach in NCAA history to lead six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to guide four different programs to final top 20 rankings.
You are correct Sir. 1926 was a split with Bama. Were you on Pop's coaching staffs? http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/champions_national.html
