A lot has been written about our QB situation next season. Jordan Jefferson has rightfully won the starting position and it appears that Coach Miles will send in Jarrett Lee as his backup in a supporting role. This thread is NOT to discuss the merits of either QB or how much playing time one or the other gets because Coach Miles is the ultimate evaluator of this and his decisions should be respected by us as true Tiger fans. Therefore, I am willing to make a vow that protects the dignity of both of these young athletes as well as protects our individual dignity. I vow, as a true Tiger fan, that I will always remember that, win or lose, I will support the LSU football team with all my heart and will respect all the players...especially the quarterbacks Jordan Jefferson, and Jarrett Lee...by not booing them when they come onto the field to play. I realize that poor play once they're in the game may cause me to voice my disconcern vocally, however I promise that I will not boo either one of them before they have had a chance to play as they run on the field for a series...no matter when Coach Miles decides to play them. Steve To discuss the abilities of either one, please do so on other threads. This thread should be about promising not to boo before any one of them has a chance to play. It's also about discussing other fan behavior good or bad. It's about us not the players. Who's with me?
Just to clarify...I'm not talking about poor play...I'm talking about when these guys enter the field for a series. It's a fan's right to boo players when they mess up. I just think it's classless and counterproductive to boo them before they walk on the field.
You definitely got my vote. It's a god***n shame that this even has to be said. I have strong feelings about booing your own team, and while I don't agree that poor play justifies it, especially at the college level when you're dealing with 18-20 year old kids, I understand that fans pay for their tickets and they have the right to be a jackass if they want. The team doesn't need thousands of fans booing them to know they're not playing well (not to mention what that says about us and the school), and when they mess up none of us are more upset about it than they are.
Just to clarify again...It's not about whether you like Jarrett Lee, Jordan Jefferson or neither. It's only about wheter or not it's OK to boo one or the other BEFORE they have a chance to play...as they go into the game for the first time.
I'm on board, but I was already driving this train. I have never booed LSU...although I have cussed mightily at my TV, and I have thrown objects that may have been harmful to my churdren had they gotten caught in the crossfire. - That said, I will not refrain from pointing out FACTS on this forum...to enlighten those that do not reside on the same plane as I.
You should see me and my friend watching away games. Between the bad play itself and having to listen to Gary Danielson celebrate it, we're so bad about this that his wife can't stand to watch the game with us anymore.
no. booing college players is never acceptable unless they are exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior. college sports are different than pro sports. if you pick up a paycheck you can be booed. so college coaches and USC players can be booed.
I know. I can't bring myself to boo LSU. I scream and cuss and act like a kid. I die a thousand deaths like all of us. I just can't boo LSU. I can boo the refs, the opposing players, coaches etc. but not my own team. I just know that as soon as Jarrett Lee comes in for any reason, I know we'll hear a loud chorus of boos. So how many people does Tiger Stadium hold? Six or seven down and 79,993 to go !!!! ( beautiful child, by the way !!)
