The Big 12 was rated the highest by all the computer polls. Again, your argument is failing miserably. Maybe not the best defenses, but his defense stunk and he had to out score everyone on his schedule. To do that 9 of 12 times with that conference schedule is pretty amazing. Baylor's SOS was top 10 in almost every computer poll. Keenum and Moore played no one. The one tough test Keenum had he failed. Moore played Georgia early on and wasn't that impressive in the game (he was good, but not outstanding against a Georgia defense trying to find it's way). The one test where he needed to out score his opponent (ala RG III), he fell short (even if it was a FG missed). Should have never come down to that.
My entire top 10 has gotten votes cast for them. Stiff Arm Trophy: Who is the most outstanding college football player in America?
TM7 Saves TD from Richardson & Other plays - YouTube! Since you say TM7 didn't show up for the Bama game....
Stopped Trent Richardson from scoring a touchdown, a sack, a huge tackle on a big ass tight end that could have gone for about 20 yards. Just because someone didn't run a punt back for 100 yards, or strip someone and grab it and run it in, doesn't mean he didn't show up. I think everyone needs to realize that that those strip sacks which are recovered by him and brought back for TD's don't happen often. TM7 has done more than enough this season to warrant that award.
Statistically he had 5 tackles and none for loss (which means no sacks as well). The 5 tackles equaled his average for the entire season. Nothing spectacular, he did his job. No impact plays. Had a horrendous penalty that almost cost LSU the ball game. This game was substandard overall for Tyrann Mathieu. He was a game changer for the other 4 biggest games on LSU's schedule (Oregon, W. Virginia, Arkansas and Georgia). So at this point, it would be nitpicking to point this game out as the exception. Everything else he did more than made up for it. I wouldn't have an issue with him being #1 on anyone's ballot.
You talking about the personal foul on Kirkpatrick? It's not like he did that on purpose, he was trying to get the dude turned around. And if he doesn't stop Richardson from scoring we lose. Didn't he also down a punt inside the 5? It's not that he just had 5 tackles, those 5 tackles were huge, at least 3 of them were huge. He plays defense, he doesn't get the ball in his hands on every play which means you have to account for that. I am glad to hear you say that you wouldn't have an issue if he did end up number 1 one though.
Although he didn't get the sack, TM7 forced one when he jumped up in the passing lane and someone else got the sack on McCarron.
