The only thing that i will add is that it remains to be seen if Florida is damn good or not.
I really don't like Urban Cryer, what an ass.

I really didn't think our defense was that bad this year considering most of the defense are new starters.
Sure we had some busted coverages and gave up some big plays but I considered it on the job training until last night.
We let two players on Florida's offense beat us, Tebow and Harvin.
Just pathetic in my view that we couldn't and didn't take him out of their game plan and make someone else beat us.

    Sourdoughman,

Did you watch the same game as me last night? Harvin and Tebow beat us? That's it? I seem to remember Demps burning us TERRIBLY. The dude averaged over 12+ yards a carry (10 carries for like 129 yds. or something). The other dude averaged 6+ yards a carry on like 11 carries. They beat us all over the field.

To be honest, Tebow just ran the offense and had a pretty good game. Nothing spectacular. Harvin did a little better, but still wasn't the killer. That whole offense was in on it and that's what is concerning. We didn't stop anyone. Those other guys did beat us.

We had a debate months ago about how well the DB's would play early on.

As you can tell by now it takes time to get comfortable back there now that they have to use their hips and can't rely on pure athleticism. You cant play CB and have seven good plays and three bad ones -- those three are too costly. Peterson and others will not be All-Americans this year, and patience is needed.

    exactly!!
if you don't like them running up the score, grow a set and TACKLE somebody.

Last year's team had an attitude about them. They had this mean, nasy ass put you on your phucking back and sopit in your eye mentality.
We could use a little of that fire right about now.

we have leaders like Curtis Taylor but he cant make a difference on EVERY play in a spread offense last year our defense was a unit our corners locked down in the championship game as did our safeties our lbs did well the whole game and the line controlled the line of scrimmage the defense needs leaders but its more about being a unit. Harry Coleman seems like he can be a leader. And hey we have leaders in each part of our d Darry Beckwith Tyson Jackson Curtis Taylor but what really wasnt working was the offense

Charles Scott was the leader and he couldnt lead on saturday. That fumble was bad for us. It is great to have a leader at QB and we dont

Lee deserves some criticism after this game. However, if our OLine had played like they are capable of then he would have performed a lot better. He was getting hit all night & wasn't planting his feet. He needs to have a better pocket presence, but his job would've been a lot easier with some protection & a running game.

Our DLine underperformed against the run, and generally didn't have the effort we expect - just like everyone else on the team, but they are no doubt one of the top DLines in the nation.

Our CB's have actually done better than I expected. I think the issues on defense fall mostly on the new DC's shoulders.

Absolutely. UF had struggled to find a grove on offense, but they found it at the end of the Arkansas game & carried it over to our game. They are a great team.

It's a sign of youth in the defensive backfield & at QB.

I agree with this, to an extent. We will replace them at the end of the season - no need to do it right now.

So if we (LSU) replace the DC at the end of this year then Les made a mistake in not hiring someone last summer? I also thought this D Line was one of the best in the nation but after 5 games I see nothing to back that up. No matter what the coaching pattern is we are getting beat man to man.. Gotta be more aggressive I think.. turn those boys loose, blitz, get after that quarterback. Seems we are always a step late every darn week.

I don't like the double-coordinator thing, but both coordinators were former DC's at other schools. They aren't learning on the job.

Lee was 23/38 for 209yds, 2 TDs, 2 Ints. Against Florida. That's hardly a meltdown, blame-one-dude kind of performance.

For comparison, RP went 21/41 for 304yds, 1 TD, and 5 Ints. Against Eastern Kentucky.
