While I would rate LSU's D as an A yesterday, we can still clean up a few things. It is still clear, WHILE SO MUCH BETTER, that zone leaves room for questions. I.E Peterson on that one play where he looked like he wasn't quite sure where to go. Still, UGA only made about 3 good passes which was something I think most of us expected. I think a good factor for our D is our Rush D. LOOKING real good and I saw maybe a few missed tackles. Over all for the D, A+ game all night. However, the O needs to help them out. We know UF will score. It will be a matter of time. LSU NEEDS TO GET TDS FAST and EVERY TIME IN THE REDZONE. O line looked so good in the first half. They kind of got messy in the 3rd quarter, but shaped up real fast... This will be a real close game and I know our TIGERS will make us PROUD! LSU BABY!
1. We need to score first. No winning the toss a defferring. The crowd is very important. 2. Zone defense has to be shelved 95% of the game. Tebow or no Tebow. 3. We have to be able to run the football to control the clock. I think we will have to do this from a spread formation. We are not going to be able to do it from the I and the option will not fly. 4. Gotta hit a big one or two. 5. D line has to show up.
Good post I'll list mine: 1) We must establish the run somehow some way. I have been all about throwing the ball and stretching the field. This is not the week that's going to work. Our O-line has to be at their best in run blocking this week and we need to get a little more innovative with our formations and misdirection plays. 2) Jefferson has to make better decisions. This is by far the best defense we have played all year. He can't take sack after sack. He has to be sure of himself. He has to run the option to perfection. It might very well be the key to our run game I spoke up in point #1. 3) We must contain Rainey and Demps. They are game breakers. If they don't break one, LSU's chances of winning go up exponentially. 4) Chad Jones has got to have some impact plays. We have got to make a statement to guys coming over the middle, which is where Tebow likes to throw the ball. If Brantly plays, Jones' roll becomes even more important. 5) Contain Tebow, make him think twice about running (in other words, nail his ass). 6) Special teams. We both got the same guy on the field, essentially. James vs Holliday. both men can impact the game significantly. We must win the field position battle.
I do see JJ learning though. Like one option play he pitched it when he shouldnt have and we lost yards. Next time it looked to be the same and he turned up field and got 3 yrds.. He's learning. May GOD have mercy on the team that plays LSU win the O clicks!
Need an A+ effort from both lines. We've got to protect JJ and get some pressure on the Gator QB. Got to win the TO battle. Score first and often to get the crowd in the game. Sound clock management. No stupid penalties or mental mistakes.
Offense: - We must run the ball efficiently, move the chains and control the clock. - OLine must be nasty - We need points everytime we get inside their 30 yard line - JJ must get rid of the ball quickly Defense: - We MUST put some hits on the QB, regardless of who their QB is - We probably need 3 turnovers in this one. 1 deep in our territory and 1 deep in theirs - Our LB's have been pretty good so far. They might have to be great against UF Special Teams: - Our return game can keep us in good field position situations. Our kick/ punt returners have done an excellent job so far. This must continue. - We must cover kicks extremely well. UF's return game is top-notch. - We must keep making FG's from makeable distances (under 50 yds) Coaching: - CLM needs to be super-hyped for this one Intangibles: - Tiger Stadium better be ROCKING!!! The atmosphere needs to be loud and intimidating! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
*Absolutely have to be able to run the ball. If we get stuffed on first down it will get ugly. *3rd down conversions
isl and pride... i agree with those keys. the only thing i would add is that we either scrap the option and find a play to use in its place, or work on selling the handoff better. as awesome as our defense was last night, they need to be MUCH better against the gators. i don't know if UGA was having an off-night on offense or what because i figured we would have gotten burned for a long TD or two from cox to green. of course if anything has to stay the same, let it be our defense. i'm feeling our offense minus the redzone miscues. GEAUX TIGERS!
