I was one of the fans that wanted to see Jefferson and to sit Lee. It's pretty obvious that Lee is the best we have right now and will get a lot better. He has gone through more adversity at his age than most people have to do in their entire lifetime. And from what I can see of him on the sidelines and in interviews, handles himself better than people two and three times his age. Not many people could handle themselves as well as he has done. The one thing I would like to see him do is run when his receivers are covered. I know he's not that athletic, in terms of quickness and speed, but gaining even 2 or 3 yards is much better than forcing passes. I still would like to see Jefferson come in for several plays a game and do what Perriloux did last year.
Great post and I'm kinda guilty of the same. We should know by know that if there was such a huge disparity tween players on the field and on the bench that the coaches would pull the trigger. Another example, last year, was Hester and/or Williams/Scott; Russell/Flynn, I could go on. Guess it's why we're fans and they're coaches. I do still believe that next year Lee will lead our team, to many doubters surprise. He's shown glimpses of great play- we'd be foolish to expect a RS freshman to do so on a consistent basis in my opinion.
If there is some open field, then yes, tuck it and get what you can. Otherwise, I would prefer that he try and get out of the pocket and throw it away.
I don't think the speed of the game has slowed down for him, yet. I think after another spring it may.
I think that if Miles would have played JJ instead of Hatch, JJ would be much more reliable at this point. When JJ was in against Troy, he looked as good if not better than Hatch has looked all season when he's stepped in. All he needs is time. I hope that JJ will spell Lee like he did in the Troy game. I think it was JJ that scored on 4th down to set the tone of the LSU comeback, and it settled Lee down to really revive the offense. JJ and Lee need each other, imo.
Really? JJ scored but was hardly a factor on that drive. I would say getting off the field and watching before that drive is what settled him down. That scoring drive was on Lee, not JJ. J. Lee passed to B. LaFell to the left for 12 yard gain J. Lee passed to R. Dickson down the middle for 7 yard gain J. Lee passed to B. LaFell to the right for 6 yard gain J. Lee passed to B. LaFell to the left for 17 yard gain J. Lee passed to C. Scott to the left for 4 yard gain Lee was 5-8, with one drop. I think he did fine. The fact that he continued to do well for more than 1-2 drives is what was amazing. I agree. The game has not slowed down for Lee yet, but hopefully it will.
I agree, but I like the ball in JJ's hands to run it in for a TD over letting Lee have all that pressure on his shoulders in a 4th down situation to try and find someone (or the only guy he ever looks at) open in the endzone. Lee could breathe a sigh of relief after that TD, and didn't have all that extra mess to deal with, settling him down to continue the comeback. I hope that is clearer. I think they worked off of one another, and JJ certainly benefited from the drive(s) Lee lead. Didn't Hatch play against UGA? I was very happy to see JJ against Troy.
