All I'm saying is give the boy a chance, there was a reason he started ahead of Jefferson as a freshman, whether or not JJ knew the playbook or not, JL has talent and a quicker release and I guess I'll be the first to admit it, but I think JL has a little more gray matter between the ears which means a LOT at the QB position.... look at both of our recent NC teams , good QB's that were SMART !!!! just sayin'

i don't think jefferson should bear all the blame for having a bad game... the receivers have a serious case of dropsies. sure some of the throws were off the mark, but some key passes were catchable. the receivers had the ball in their hands and should have made the catch. don't get pissed at the QB when YOU dropped the ball! the option to start off the game showed me that crowton is clueless in how to game plan for jefferson, so he deserves the bulk of the blame. the fumble on jefferson's part shot the kid's confidence from the get-go and put us in a hole right away. we could have passed for 3 million yards against vandy, but yet we chose gimmicky run plays and options that did the opposite of instilling confidence. and what film did the coaching staff look at from last week that made them feel confident in throwing such a complex game plan in week two after such a vanilla approach against UNC? there was regression across the board, and while jefferson deserves some blame, he deserve NO more than:

    1) the receivers.
    2) piss-poor play calls.
    3) inept offensive coordination.

i guess 2 and 3 go hand-in-hand, but jesus! i liked the calls, but what gave the coaches confidence that we'd be able to run something like that so smoothly this early in the season?!?!?

and i guess ford really is in the doghouse. as much as i like richard murphy, he's not a power back.

can i say anything good about the game? yes. our defense is damn tough, but will again fall late in games because of piss-poor offensive production. hopefully this game was simply an aberration and we will move forward, but you cannot blame all of this on jefferson. quit making the kid a scapegoat.

we won by 3 touchdowns, which is what i said that i wanted to see... we are 2-0, but hopefully the coaching staff wises up before we play someone decent because our defense is on the field entirely too long.

Thought this comment was germane - from another thread.

Don't ever question the LSU coaches or especially the senior members of this forum. RS CANNOT THROW THE BALL. Even the RBs on other teams that have occasionally thrown a pass from this formation are better than RS. Besides, it might hurt JJ's feelings if RS TRIES to throw a pass.

BTW, don't let RS run from from the Wild Tiger either. That might hurt JJ's feelings also.

He'd have been gone a year and a half ago if he was worried about that. Those same fans will scream their lungs out for him if he gets it done.

Agreed, and I would prefer he didn't. Why give DCs a heads up? I enjoy watching defenses get flatfooted when a new wrinkle is added in the game.

Fans need to limit their needs for reassurance to Saturday nights.

I'm sorry guys. This is my fault.

Watching USF-UF yesterday I made the comment that watching USF's QB (5-20, 84 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT) made me feel better about Jefferson.

Clearly the universe wanted me to regret that statement.

Two years can make a big difference in maturity...on and off the field....why should we think that JLee is going to be the same, shaky player that he was then? JJ should be benched and Jlee unleashed, we don't have much to loose in the passing game at this point.
