OK, first of all I'm not a coach, nor do I claim to be. As the title says this is my $.02 and thats it, guess I'm just venting. I'm not a fan of a 2 QB system, but when JJ stinks up the place as he did last night, why don't we give JL a shot, I mean he couldn't really do worse, I think each of em should get a few series in the first half, see who's got the hot hand and then go with the hot hand, I gotta admit JL (on his 1 throw) did look like he's ready to go and the word around campus is that JL "looks" more like a QB than JJ does in camp. OK, I'm done venting, thanks for your time. :tigereye:
we may have no choice but to go with a 2 qb system. granted, last night was the WORST i have ever seen jj, so hopefully it's up from here and no more games like that. however, if he has an outing like that again, we have to make sure lee is prepared and let him step in because against better teams, that is gonna get us killed. and then we have to hope lee doesnt revert to some old ways. i really hope for his sake, not to mention the team's, that lee has his pick-six-ness overcome. lee has to be given a chance to get playing time again now, if for nothing else, but to make sure he can step in if absolutely needed. and the way jj played last night, he was.
To me, it looks like Jefferson has lost all of his confidence. He looks so uncomfortable in the pocket, its rediculous. His running has also been affected. He is no longer dodging tackles or showing bursts of speed. He looks to me like he is looking for a place to fall or just run out of bounds. I think Lee should have his shot. Does Lee scare me? Hell ya!! Those pick-6s were brutal, but I think it would be good for both QB's if there were some renewed competition for the starting job.
For JJ the game is suppose to slow do and he is suppose to get more comfortable. Not what we are seeing and how long to you wait for the gifted young man to get it. JL lived through the fire and he is still a Tiger. He didn't quit and that tells me alot about him. I don't want to see JL for a series but for at least quarter with the 1st string in the 1st half.
While I'd have rather Lee get his chance away from the glare of TS if JJ can't get it next week it may be time. I kept thinking he was getting better...but last night showed he is still learning after 2.5 years.
Rlly? Conventional wisdom says to throw him in on the road would be worse. Curious, why you don't feel like his home stadium would be a much better venue to pop his cherry again?
because tiger stadium can be brutal to the kid. the moment he screws up, the fans will unleash hell on him.
Les has to come out with a statement saying we are going to play both quarterbacks. Just to bench JJ would be too harsh pyschologically for the kid. The good thing about Spurrier's way to deal with qbs is that if you get benched it is not that big of a deal. With Les being so loyal if you get benched it really says you are not getting the job done. It would take pressure off of all parties just to come out and say we are going to rotate qbs and go with the hot hand. To be honest I don't know if I want JL playing the whole game anyway. I think both of them would benefit from not having to carry the load for a full 60 minutes.
I don't know, I've seen him sit some RB's with a hot hand. That's the sad thing about Les, too often there's no rhyme or reason to what he does.
