Big different in Florida high school football and Alabama football. Grade-C talent in Florida is still 4-star players. Grade-C talent in Alabama are scrubs (by SEC standards). Florida gets most of the ones they want.
The news is part of the bama run media plan to sabotage the process......make UT counter....how is that for paranoia???? Or maybe Sexton is doing this.
Dont know how I missed this thread earlier. I think Muschamp would be a solid hire for Auburn. His energy level is the exact opposite of Tubby's and Auburn probably needs that. Tubby's recruiting has slipped and he was getting his azz handed to him by Saban. I think Aub missed out on every blue chip they went head to head on with Saban last year. In spite of what some say, I believe Aub had to move on from Tubby and inject some vitality back into their program. Muschamp will do that. Doesnt mean he will win but there will be a renewed attitude at Aub.
yeah i don't get the "coach in waiting" thing either. if texas is a better job than Auburn (and honestly texas is one of the better jobs in the country) then why not just hire him away from AU when he has a couple of of years of head coaching under his belt? i would think all the other coaches on the staff would be alienated by the "in waiting" tag with the idea of "why am i working so hard here if some other guy is going to get the head gig here." if this is true i think it's a great move for AU and this league is really getting young in it's coaching staff. guys like spurrier and brooks are dinosaurs now. that's just crazy.
And I am sure they will say they didn't really want/need Debose when we pull him this year. Just like they said about Patterson last year. Point being there are plenty enough players but the greater factor will be the depth of the roster. This also applies to us with players like Sentimore, etc. It will apply to bama before long. Right now, Saban is hot and their roster is thin, so they can be expected to kill it for another couple of years. but they won't turn into USC. Auburn will eventually get better recruits there, and the MS schools will also begin to keep better talent at home as their coaches improve things. It will balance out eventually.
I have to completely agree with you here. The state of Alabama's stud players are limited to some 5-6 players each year (as opposed to 15-20 in Florida) and Alabama will continute to get ALL of them if someone doesn't do something about it at Auburn (i.e., the next head coach). Balancing out? No. Bama just won't need as much, but Auburn won't benefit from that. And yes, Florida does get most of what they want.
Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent ! Muschamp: I'm staying at Texas http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/12/muschamp-im-staying-at.html
